MANILA: Volkswagen and Toyota are the two biggest automobile groups in the world today. However, the crown might come under threat due to the possible merger of the two other auto giants on the planet, Fiat Chrysler and Renault. Yes,

you heard that right. Both the Italian and the French automakers have been in talks of tying knots together in the near future. In the bigger, what will begin with a tie-up may result in a full merger. With that being said, the automobile universe is for sure set to witness some new winds.

Going by the reports, the tie-up involving the two giants may also mean some kind of stake transfer as well. While we wait for both the manufacturers to make an official announcement, we have got to know that the two companies will be sharing intellectual property, technology, and projects in order to develop and produce new vehicles.

If we talk about the possible reasons behind the tie-up and a possible merger, the two companies are very much coming together to develop and manufacture hybrid and electric vehicles in conjunction. The tie-up will benefit both the manufacturers as the costs will be shared and the load on an individual will reduce.

Alongside the shared expenses, the tie-up will also help Renault in improving its market share in markets like China and North America, while Fiat Chrysler will strive to extend its presence in Europe.

Another interesting speculation floating is whether or not the two other partners from the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance will also take part in the tie-up or merger. If all of the Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi come together with the Fiat Chrysler group, it will be the beginning of the biggest automotive partnership on the planet. The group will also become the biggest automobile manufacturer in the world leaving behind giants like Volkswagen and Toyota.
