First inter-island rally race in Occidental Mindoro set this weekend
17 competitors join 'Rally of Lubang'
MANILA: The Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and Occidental Mindoro shall host the inaugural Rally of Lubang to be held this weekend.

The competition drew 17 participants.To serve as part of the 2025 Philippine National Rally Championship (PNRC) series, the much-awaited program — set for tomorrow until Saturday (June 27-28) — is an all-tarmac rally with a total rally distance of more than 110 kilometers.
Motorsport fans can now look forward to the said event in the future — among the numerous events lined up under this year’s Motorsport Carnivale — as it will be part of the Philippines’ motorsport calendar sanctioned by AAP.
AAP Head of Motorsport Division Rikki Dy-Liacco noted the importance of the event, saying that the Rally of Lubang is expected to boost rallying as a form of motorsport in the country.
“The AAP Rally of Lubang will be run as Round 2 and Round 3 of the Philippine National Rally Championship. The idea is to make Lubang a regular stop in the season calendar of the PNRC with talks of hosting an international level competition in the near future,” the AAP Motorsport Division head shared.
For his part, Lubang Mayor Michael Orayani expressed belief that such a program will stir the Occidental Mindoro and Lubang’s economy — given that the program is also expected to promote tourism.
A total of 17 competitors have signed up to take part in the monumental motorsport event that had its ceremonial flag off at Okada Manila. Leading this were AAP President Joe Ferreri and AAP Motorsports Chairman Armando Eduque.
Event details
The Rally of Lubang will be divided into two rounds (Rounds 2 and 3).
For June 27, drivers will showcase their skills in a night race that will have six special stages divided into two legs with three sub-stages each.
Aside from that, the night race will have the following:
- Total rally distance: 61 kilometers
- Overall special stage distance: 37 kilometers
The next day, drivers will contend in a day-time rally setup.
Scheduled to have six special stages divided into two legs with three sub-stages each leg, the said round shall have:
- Total rally distance: 55 kilometers,
- Special stage distance: 35 kilometers
