GAC to introduce Trumpchi E9?

MANILA: Is GAC International Philippines poised to bring in the Trumpchi E9 to the local market?

Recently, the Land Transportation Office released a documentation regarding the said model that revealed some notable bits of information about it.

So, while waiting for the announcement from the Guangzhou-headquartered marque’s local arm, here’s what the GAC Trumpchi E9 could be offering to the market as stated in the government papers.

Vehicle specifications

The electrified multi-purpose vehicle has the following measurements:

Powering the vehicle is a combination of a four- cylinder, 2.0-liter gasoline-fed engine and an electric motor that lets the vehicle reach a top speed of 175 kilometers per hour. Further, the vehicle sits on 18-inch wheels shod with 225/60 tires.

On pure electric mode, the GAC Trumpchi E9 can dish out a peak of 187 horsepower. Meanwhile its ternary lithium battery gives it a fumes-free range of 136 kilometers.

Further, the vehicle can be charged in as fast as 30 minutes using a direct current charger or 3.5 hours using the alternating current type.

Since the model only has one LTO entry, Zigwheels Philippines has a strong belief that the model will only be available in a single trim. Relatedly, we have yet to see whether GAC International Philippines has yet to carry the Trumpchi name as that portion was not used on the earlier-released models locally such as the M6 Pro and M8.

Notably, the GAC Trumpchi E9 is already retailing in Singapore. There, the model comes with various creature comforts inside the cabin such as:

Semi-aniline leather-covered electronically adjustable seats

• 12.3-inch digital instrument panel
• 10.1-inch infotainment system mated to eight speakers (with speed-sensitive volume control)
• Numerous charging ports (12-volt and 220V sockets as well as Types A and C)
• Wireless charging dock
• Multicolor ambient lighting
• Hidden tables at the back of the front occupants’ seats
• Dual electric sliding doors
• Three-zone automatic air-conditioning system with plasma purifier and air quality sensor

Its host of driver-assistive technologies include:

•           Active vehicle dynamic control
•           Electronic power steering
•           Lane departure warning and lane keep assist
•           Autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warning
•           Traffic sign recognition
•           Adaptive cruise control
•           Traffic-jam assist with integrated cruise assist
•           Blind spot detection
•           Rear-cross traffic alert with braking, car approach warning
•           Emergency lane keeping system

Additionally, the GAC Trumpchi E9 also has a 580-liter luggage capacity. Aside from that, GAC noted that the model’s Singapore-spec version can cover up to 1,032 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure) through the combined usage of the battery and the 56-liter fuel tank.

Should the local distributor decide to introduce this to the country, then the launch date might coincide with the GS8 HEV’s formal unveiling — possibly at the Manila International Auto Show 2026.
