iCaur V27 clinches Best Interior Design Award from 2026 TADA

MANILA: The iCAUR V27, which is due to be introduced for the Philippine market with the iCAUR V23, has clinched the Best Interior Design Award in the premium car category at the 2026 Torino Automotive Design Award (TADA).

Particular praise from the TADA awarding body was given to the iCAUR V27’s cockpit design and its wealth of on-board technologies. 

For its front cabin, the V27 comes with the “Interstellar Cockpit,” which is said to combine practical proportions, excellent visibility, and a commanding driving position. All the while, iCAUR also mentioned that it offers a good combination of ruggedness and refinement, as expected from a contemporary, albeit still boxy-looking sport utility vehicle (SUV). 

Likewise garnering praise is the vehicle’s “Interstellar Porthole” dual-panoramic sunroof design, which the company claims lets more natural light into the cabin. This is said to enhance the cabin's airiness and openness. Plus, the said sunroof features laminated glass, which iCAUR claims can block up to 99.9 percent of ultraviolet rays.

As mentioned, the iCAUR V27’s cockpit appears ready for adventures and provides comfort. Otherwise, it is also filled to the brim with technologies that TADA liked. 

Chief among these is its 15.4-inch 2.5K high-definition control screen, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. With this processor, the vehicle’s central display is able to function seamlessly as the vehicle’s all-around control surface that’s responsible for its interior climate settings, navigation, on-board entertainment, and many other on-board features. 

On the other hand, TADA complimented the iCAUR V27’s practicality. This is highlighted by its 49 storage compartments that provide ample space for all manner of knick-knacks its occupants may bring aboard. Likewise notable is its rear seats, which can fold completely flat, thus expanding its trunk to swallow large pieces of luggage. 

Technically, this isn’t the iCAUR V27’s first-ever award. In fact, the Chinese maker shared that the model has already won the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2026. For this, its highlight was its boxy but “future-classic” exterior designed combined with intelligent technology and a “sustainable mobility ecosystem.” 

iCAUR V27: what we know so far

The iCAUR brand is scheduled to launch in the Philippines sometime in October 2027. For now, we aren’t privy to its offerings’ pricing details, but we are aware that the V27 is a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) that uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill combined with dual electric motors and an intelligent all-wheel-drive system. 

The REEV variant of the iCAUR V27 in other markets can produce up to 455 horsepower and 505 Newton-meters of torque. It likewise has an electric-only range of 150 kilometers (km), according to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). 

Other noteworthy features of the iCAUR V27 include, but are not limited to:

• Intelligent all-wheel drive
• LED illumination
• 91- to 21-inch wheels (255/55 or 265/45 tires)
• 8.8-inch instrument cluster
• Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

For the unaware, iCAUR is a brand under the Chery Group. It was founded as a new energy electric vehicle subsidiary back in 2023 and was previously known as “iCar.”
