Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, iCAur V23 to arrive in PH soon?

MANILA: Is Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) bringing in the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) and iCAUR V23 to the local market?

Such a speculation came after the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) released evaluation papers on Christmas Eve 2025 pertaining to the two models.

At the time of publishing, United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated (UAAGI)-led automotive distributor has yet to issue any formal announcements pertaining to the possible launch of the two models, but the writings are on the wall as these are already present in neighboring countries.

ASEAN NCAP report

Under the two reports, both models are intended for the Philippines, as well as Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Additionally, the two models received five-star ratings after they underwent four assessment categories that form part of the current 2021–2025 protocol namely Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA), and Motorcyclist Safety (MS).

As stated in the two separate evaluations, the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV got a total of 94.68 points while the iCAUR V23 had 91.02.

Below is the breakdown of the models’ scores per category and their respective notable safety features.

Tiggo 7 PHEV

The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV came up with the following scores:

Among the crossover’s standard and optional safety fitments are:

• Eight airbags
• Electronic stability control (ESC)
• Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
• Seatbelt reminder (SBR) for front and rear occupants

• Pedestrian protection (PP)
• Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system for inter-urban setting
• Blind spot detection (BSD)
• Automatic high beam (AHB)
• ISOFIX for child seats
• Child presence detection
• Lane departure warning (LDW)
• Front collision warning (FCW)
• Lane Keep Assist (LKA)

The model is highly expected as the company is at the top of the PHEV sales, based on the October 2025 report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

iCAUR V23

Meanwhile, the Chery iCAUR V23 was able to score the following numbers:
