In 7 pictures: Suzuki PH goes all-in on BEV with e Vitara introduction

MANILA: After dipping its fingers in the local new energy vehicle segment with mild-hybrid vehicles, Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) took the plunge and went full-electric with the introduction of the e Vitara.

The model’s official unveiling at the ongoing 10th Philippine International Motor Show marked a new chapter in the Japanese automaker’s electrification journey in the country.

“Today, we take a monumental leap forward into a bold new chapter,” SPH Director and General Manager for the Automobile Division Norihide Takei said.

“The all-new e Vitara reflects Suzuki’s commitment to delivering advanced mobility solutions that inspire confidence, excitement, and practicality for today’s generation of drivers. As we move toward the future of electrification, we invite everyone to join us as this new era begins,” he added.

Here’s what the newly-released model, which is set to go toe-to-toe with the Toyota Urban Cruiser, will offer in the country.

Vehicle specifications

Created under the “Metal Beast” design language, the all-new Suzuki e Vitara sports:

• Bold character lines
• Coupe-like silhouette
• Optimized roof design

Complementing these portions are the three-point matrix LED lamps at the front and a sculpted modern rear aesthetic.

Inside, the Suzuki e Vitara features a modern cockpit made up of an integrated dual display, a double-decker floating center console with a rotary shift knob, and a two-spoke sporty steering wheel.

Other amenities that can be found in the Suzuki e Vitara

• Three-tone leatherette seats—10-way power-adjustable for the driver seat and ventilated front seating and a 40:20:40 split-folding bench equipped with sliding and reclining functionality
• 10.1-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, the Suzuki e Vitara mated to a six-piece Infinity sound system.

The Suzuki e Vitara also wears the highly advanced "Heartect-e” platform anchored on three critical engineering pillars: exceptional structural rigidity, maximized passenger space, and advanced high-voltage battery protection.

Powering the vehicle is an electric motor that can deliver:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	172
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	93

This is mated to a 61-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery configuration that gives the vehicle a fumes-free range of 475 kilometers.

In recent real-world economy trials conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the Suzuki e Vitara boasts a fuel-equivalent consumption rating of 87.22 kilometers per Liter gasoline equivalent—which translates to an energy consumption rate of 9.8 kilometers per kilowatt-hour.

Further, the e Vitara is equipped with Suzuki Safety Support as well as a myriad of  active and passive safety technologies, including seven airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake with brake hold function, and dual sensing brake sensor II.

While the final color lineup and full market specifications has yet to be shared, SPH announced that the price of the all-new Suzuki e Vitara starts at P2.02 million.
