Lexus UX Concept revealed at Paris Motor Show
MANILA: It looks like someone has planned what future compact crossovers would look like and the brand is none other than the Lexus. Yes, the Japanese automaker has showcased the vision of the compact crossover with the tag UX Concept along with the 3-D Human Machine Interface (HMI) and the Kinetic Seat Concept. It was confirmed that the brand will be showcasing the Kinetic Seat concept and the UX Concept and now this Japanese automaker has finally staged the much talked about concept.
Before the unveiling of the UX Concept, the Lexus LC500h Coupe made a sensation in not only in the Philippines but globally and now Lexus has more to offer. Demonstrated with a ‘powerful inside-out design’ with ‘deconstructed interior styling’ philosophy, the overall concept has been designed in the South of France called ED2. Simon Humphries, President of ED2 said, “ The biggest challenge for any designer is always to create something new and original, along with relevance to both the customer and the brand. The particular product hints the potential of Lexus’s design approach and is a clear reflection of progressive, strong yet artistic & premium product which further boast the Lexus’ unique and challenging brand position.”
The muscular wheel arches with sharp, angular lines on its five-door body immediately grabs the attention of onlookers. The two rear door curve out with the swollen wheel arches, and the door handles are all positioned in the middle due to the rear-hinged back doors. At back, the concept has been given a coupe-like shape and sharp-tail lights with LED internals. Compared to NX and RX, the body of UX Concept looks smaller. When looking at the interior, it will reflect the traditional craftsmanship with high-tech manufacturing techniques. The key highlight is the Kinetic Seat Concept Technology, that is evolved using spider web-like fabric that makes them both light and slim.
Other features include dual-screen infotainment with HMI technology, a wrap-around dash and striking colour scheme. Information about the powertrain is not revealed yet but, we expect that in order to go in-line with the upcoming future trend, the company might introduce some sort of electric motor assistance. Let’s wait for the production version to make its entry and see how the futuristic concept will bring revolution in the compact crossover segment.
