LM, a Lexus MPV based on Toyota Alphard to arrive soon

MANILA: After all the wait, speculations, and rumours, Lexus, the luxury wing of Toyota has confirmed the arrival of a deluxe minivan. This time around, the brand has teased the vehicle by releasing a couple of images. The first image, which is full of darkness, depicts the front portion of the upcoming MPV.

The headlamps are the typical Lexus units with built-in LED DRLs, and the grille is also of the brand trademark style. The character lines and the positioning of the headlights along with the grille make it quite clear that MPV in the spotlight is most likely a luxurious version of the ever so popular Toyota Alphard.

The second image doesn’t reveal much either as only the overall shape of the minivan can be comprehended from the photo. With the LM set to come out of Lexus’ stable, the minivan should be boasting some high-class stuff like fine grain leather upholstery, four-zone climate control, high-tech media display, LED ambient lighting, and captain seats.

Coming to the mechanical bits of the MPV, we expect the LM to feature a 3.5-litre V6 motor. It is the same engine that we have already seen on the Toyota Alphard. Interestingly, this mill also comes in a hybrid setup. However, going by the series of teasers and speculations that have been flowing, a 2.5-litre hybrid could also make its way to the Lexus LM.

Set to debut next week at the 2019 Auto Shanghai, the Lexus LM might end up being exclusive to the Chinese market. This case is further strengthened by the fact that it is only Lexus China which has been releasing the teasers. Anyways, the global automobile community hopes Lexus to provide the customers across the planet with an opportunity to get their hands on the luxury minivan.
