Long time coming: SAIC, AC Industrials end Maxus distribution partnership in PH
Concludes 7-year chapter
MANILA: SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC) and AC Industrials have concluded their partnership for the distribution of Maxus vehicles in the country.
In a statement, the Ayala-led subsidiary noted that the move serves as a strategic step for both firms — allowing each party to “realign and focus on their respective core strengths in response to shifting market dynamics.”
In 2019, AC Industrials — through then-called ACMotors — introduced Maxus in the Philippines as its sixth motoring brand in the country.
The transition was expected as SAIC Motor officially entered the Philippine market by taking over Morris Garages’ (MG) distributorship in 2023. On the other hand, AC Industrials — via ACMobility — continues to distribute BYD, Kia, and Volkswagen vehicles locally.
“As this chapter concludes, AC Industrials takes pride in having played a role in Maxus’ growth within the dynamic Philippine automotive industry,” AC Industrials Mobility Group Head of Strategy Dana Uson said.
“This transition reflects our continued focus on shaping the future of mobility, and as the industry evolves, we remain committed to advancing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions for the Philippine market,” the executive added.
For his part, SAIC Maxus International Limited Head of Overseas Business Frank Wu expressed the brand’s gratitude to AC Industrials for the strong partnership amid a changing mobility landscape.
“We are grateful to AC Industrials for their dedication and collaboration over the past seven years,” he said.
“Their efforts laid a strong foundation for Maxus in the market, and we remain committed to supporting Filipino customers and partners as we continue to expand our global presence.”
Maxus stated on the website that customers will continue to receive full support and service at its Alabang Service Center located at Investment Drive, Madrigal Business Park, Muntinlupa.

As of posting, SAIC Motor Philippines has yet to announce whether the Maxus brand will join MG in its portfolio.
