LTO nabs 12k unregistered, 223 colorum vehicles in Jul. 2024

MANILA: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) — for the month of July — has apprehended some 12,000 unregistered vehicles across the country with its “No Registration, No Travel” initiative.

On that note, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II lauded Regional Directors and other officials of the land transport bureau for their efforts. He emphasized that it is only through the registration of vehicles that the roadworthiness of a vehicle is guaranteed, citing its importance, particularly for the vehicles being used for public transportation.

“Magpapatuloy ang ating agresibong kampanya laban sa mga delinquent vehicle owners. I would like to remind our motorists that vehicle ownership comes with an obligation to register and renew the registration (Our aggressive campaign against delinquent vehicle owners will continue. According to the agency’s data, LTO Calabarzon has the most number of apprehended unregistered vehicles with 5,204 apprehensions and 403 impoundment of vehicles.

On the other hand, its anti-colorum drive has seen the agency take in 223 vehicles in violation.

Relatedly, Mendoza ordered all LTO Regional Directors that all impounded colorum vehicles require a court order before they are released to the owners — which is part of the aggressive campaign to protect legitimate operators and drivers.
