LTO starts number plate distribution in Central Visayas

MANILA: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that its clients in the Central Visayas region can now claim their number plates.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What steps must vehicle owners in Central Visayas have to take when claiming their license plates?

Per LTO, they need to visit the agency's office and provide their OR and CR to the PACD-in-charge. Further, they will also have to wait for a confirmation text.
  • Where can clients in Central Visayas claim their number plates?

Central Visayas clients can claim their number plates at their respective LTO offices or at SM Seaside City (by appointment only).
  • With the agency’s plate distribution campaign in Region 7, vehicle owners living in the area can proceed to their nearest LTO office to submit copies of their Original Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR) to the Public Assistance and Complaints Desk officer-in-charge.

Once submitted, clients will have to wait for a text confirmation on the plate status as well as further information about when to claim it.

LTO however, advised its clients to ensure that their motor vehicles (MV) and motorcycles are registered in Region 7. This can be done by checking the MV File No. and confirming that it starts with the number 0701.

When the plates become available, all the clients need to do is claim the number plates at the respective offices where they submitted the copies of their OR and CR.

Alternatively, they can also claim their license plates at the Plate Distribution Area at SM Seaside City, although they will have to schedule an appointment beforehand.

Moreover, LTO said that it will announce other possible points and releasing centers in all areas within the region soon.

Those who will be claiming replacement plates, applied and paid in 2015, will have to go to the district offices where these were last transacted and paid. Clients may refer to their OR to check the district office where it was paid and claim their plates thereat.

To ensure safety of its clients, LTO said that alongside its license plate distribution efforts will be intensified law enforcement activities. All law enforcement officers within their geographical area of responsibilities were directed to conduct road-side operations on weekdays and weekends and flag down motorists with plate concerns such as no plate attached, dilapidated plate, improvised plate, virtual plate and the like.
