MPCALA receives GREEN awards from City of Sta. Rosa Laguna gov’t

MANILA: MPCALA Holdings Incorporated (MPHI) has been recognized by the  City Government of Santa Rosa, Laguna for its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Marking the fourth consecutive year that the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) concessionaire was lauded by the local government unit, the firm received three major citations in the Guarantee the Restoration of the Environment and our Ecological Niche (GREEN) Awards.

The following awards include:

• Sustainable Development Partner: Given to the firm for its active participation in coastal clean-up initiatives that help preserve ecosystems, reduce pollution in Laguna Lake, and support climate change mitigation efforts.
• Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partner: Given for the company’s efforts in reducing energy consumption, promoting renewable energy solutions, and implementing energy efficiency initiatives across its offices, toll plazas, and facilities.
• Earth Hour Advocate: Presented active participation in the annual global Earth Hour movement and its thrusts to promote energy conservation and environmental awareness.

"We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from the City Government of Santa Rosa. These awards reflect our commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations, from building greener infrastructure to adopting environmentally responsible practices,” MPHI President and General Manager Andrew Pangilinan said.

“As we continue to expand CALAX, we remain dedicated to proving that infrastructure development and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand," he added.

To note, CALAX is a 44.6-kilometer expressway connecting the provinces of Cavite and Laguna. Once completed, it is expected to serve approximately 95,000 motorists daily.

Aside from improving mobility, CALAX also advances environmental sustainability by helping lessen fuel consumption and vehicle emissions through shorter travel times.

Among its green initiatives are

• Integration of solar power systems
• Rainwater harvesting facilities
• Progressive transition of its corporate fleet to electric vehicles
