All-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV set for PH launch next month

MANILA: Following its preview at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will formally unveil the Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) next month.

Based on the invitation sent to Zigwheels Philippines, the company will likely share details of the returning nameplate’s (such as pricing, variants, and other features) on August 20—the model’s scheduled formal launch.

To recall, MMPC previously sold the third-generation Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV some years back but eventually pulled it from the local market.

Earlier, the Department of Energy already included the vehicle in its list of recognized electrified models in the country—with its entry bearing a spec sheet. So while waiting for the launch, let’s check what is stated there.

Vehicle specifications

Based on the attached spec sheet, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is powered by a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors (front and rear).

These can deliver:

Electric motor peak torque (in Newton-meters [Nm>)	255 (front), 195 (rear)
Internal combustion engine output (in hp)	131

Further, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV features all-wheel drive configuration,

It also uses a transaxle reduction gearbox and the Mitsubishi Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) that can adjust torque and vehicle dynamics to provide optimal traction across varied driving conditions. 

On paper, the vehicle measures:

Inside, the upcoming five-seater PHEV will have power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, 12.3-inch digital displays (infotainment and digital gauge), a sunroof, and a triple-zone automatic climate control system. 

Aside from that, its host of creature comfort will include:

• Power tailgate
• Alternating current charging port
• Head-up display
• Wireless smartphone charging pad
• Keyless entry
