Mitsubishi Versa Van

Upon entering the Mitsubishi Versa Van, you are greeted by a traditional-looking cabin design that is predominantly hard plastic. Apart from the modern-looking Mitsubishi steering wheel, the majority of its interior features are already due for an update. The driver’s instrument panel consists of analog gauge clusters and a multi-information display in the middle. This van comes with a single-din multi-media system that offers AM/FM radio and is linked to two speakers.

However, when it comes to practicality and functionality, the Versa Van’s cabin certainly delivers. Space-wise, its cabin can effectively accommodate 15 passengers. Its standard fabric seats might not be the plushiest out there, but these still offer decent cushioning and are very easy-to-clean and maintain. In terms of convenience, this van also comes with two cupholders and two bottle holders, three assist grips (front: 2, rear passenger entry: 1), a 12V power outlet, an air-conditioning system with a heater, and rear air-conditioning (12 vents) with independent control. 

In terms of dimensions, the Mitsubishi Versa Van measures 4,710 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,990 mm in height. This van comes with a 2,555-mm wheelbase and a 195-mm minimum ground clearance.

The Mitsubishi Versa Van features a no-nonsense design. It has that simple, approachable boxy look that typical passenger vans have. Its front end is illuminated by multi-reflector halogen headlights with integrated turn signal lights. The Mitsubishi badge is proudly displayed on its blacked-out grille.

Furthermore, it has a two-toned side profile, accentuated by blacked-out door handles and window outlines. This van comes with a wider sliding door for easier ingress and egress. The Versa Van runs on 15-inch steel wheels. 

Meanwhile, its straightforward personality carries over to its rear. Its back end is illuminated by the typical rectangular bulb-type taillights. It also comes with a high mount stop lamp for enhanced visibility and safety at all times, especially at night. Additionally, a blacked-out tailgate garnish and bumper (with a stepper) add a bit of detail to its hindlook. 

In terms of suspension, the Mitsubishi Versa Van utilizes a Torsion Bar with a stabilizer at the front, while an Elliptic Leaf Spring at the rear. This suspension setup is on the softer side of things. Hence, you and everyone on board won’t feel the bumps and ruts that much. Yes, this van might not deliver the plushiest riding experience out there, but it can still offer a pleasant and fairly comfortable ride for all passengers.

The Mitsubishi Versa Van is powered by a 2.5L, inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve, Variable Turbocharger (VGS) diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 129 PS and a maximum torque of 356 Nm. This van utilizes a two-wheel drivetrain and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system. This van has enough power and torque to get you and all your passengers from point A to point B on time. It also has plenty of torque on tap when you are passing through steep inclines or driving with maximum load. 

In terms of safety, the Mitsubishi Versa Van is equipped with driver and front passenger airbags, multiple seat belts, and a high mount stop lamp (as previously mentioned). This van comes with front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution as well as vehicle dynamic control. 

In my opinion, the Versa Van has a high potential to become more competitive in the country’s cargo/passenger van segment if Mitsubishi addresses its current flaws and shortcomings in the next update. Currently, it is still a good option for consumers with large families and business owners who are searching for a reliable and easy-to-maintain 15-seater vehicle, which will be able to cater to their private or public needs.
