MPT South: Cavitex, CALAX motorists advised to ready vehicles for Holy Week trip

MANILA: Metro Pacific Tollways (MPT) South Management Corp., the management company of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), reminds motorists to ready their vehicles this Holy Week as the traffic volume along the tollways are expected to rise.

MPT South, along with other Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) toll roads, announced last week that the "Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko" (SMSK) Program will be implemented this Lenten season. The toll road operator guarantees 24/7 operation of its customer support centers, standby emergency medical services, and free towing for Class 1 vehicles to the nearest exit from April 13 at 6 a.m. to April 18 at 6 a.m. It will also deploy more people in traffic and toll operations to accommodate the predicted increase in traffic.

In a statement, MPT South Assistant Vice President for Communications and Stakeholder Management Arlette Capistrano said, “Though we are fully prepared to provide roadside assistance to our motorists, we are calling out to them to practice BLOWBAGETS checking, a longstanding and proven checklist of things you need to check before you hit the road.”

BLOWBAGETS stands for battery, lights, oil, water, brakes, air pressure, gas, engine, tires, and self.

“Aside from preparing your vehicle, we also encourage our motorists to reload their Easytrip RFIDs for faster processing of their transactions and avoid long queues at the cash lanes. For those who do not have Easytrip RFIDs yet, they may have one installed at our expressways’ 24/7 customer service centers,” Capistrano added.

MPT South is a subsidiary of MPTC. Aside from Cavitex and CALAX, MPTC also manages the operations of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
