MANILA: Porsche has pledged a total of €1 million to organizations that help those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, received €750,000 from the car manufacturer. The funds will be used to provide practical assistance on the ground.
An additional €250,000 was allocated to the Ferry Porsche Foundation, which concentrates on youth welfare. The funds will be used to help SOS Children's Villages, among others.
In a statement, Porsche Chief Executive Officer Oliver Blume said, “We are deeply saddened by the events in Ukraine. Many people are in need of urgent aid through no fault of their own. We are therefore making a contribution and supporting organizations that help the population on the ground.”
In 2021, Porsche also donated €500,000 to the German Red Cross. The funds were used to assist with the recovery of flood-affected areas in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Austria.
