Volvo partners with fragrance brand to create 'Swoodish' scent

MANILA: Volvo Cars and D.S. & Durga, a New York-based fragrance brand, have collaborated to create the limited-edition “Swoodish” scent for the company’s candles. 

The “Swoodish” name is a creative combination of “Swedish” and “Woods.” As such, the scent evokes the wooded wilds of Sweden. 

With Volvo being a Swedish car brand, it stepped in to provide D.S. & Durga with the cultural and natural immersion it needed to formulate the aforementioned scent. Its founders, David Seth Moltz, and Kavi Ahuja Moltz, were taken on a tour to visit the Scandinavian country’s vistas behind the wheel of the Gothenburg-based car maker’s fully electric EX30. 

“The sensory ambiance in our cars draws from the inspiration from nature and Scandinavian excellence in light. In collaboration with D.S. & Durga, we developed a natural scented candle called SWOODISH to bring the ambient warmth of a Scandinavian forest into your home”, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Cars Lisa Reeves said. 

David Seth Moltz, meanwhile, praised Volvo’s electric vehicles as being the right kind of ride to use in exploring Sweden’s mythical vistas. 

“Driving from place to place behind the wheel of one of Volvo Cars’ fully electric vehicles, we learned first-hand that they are chic, well-designed and fun to explore in. Swoodish will transport anyone away to a calm serene Sweden of the mind,” Moltz said. 

As per Volvo, the upcoming scented candle from D.S. & Durga will be released globally soon at a price of 70 USD (P4,106 at current exchange rates).

A portion of the proceeds of the said scented product will be donated to the One Tree Planted initiative, a Volvo For Life Fund partner. As per its name, the non-profit project aims to help the environment by restoring forests through tree planting.
