WATCH: Musicians rework hit song using Nissan X-Trail sounds

MANILA: As part of Nissan Philippines’ commitment to uplift the spirit and unleash the creativity of Filipinos during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), the auto company partnered with musical artists Barbie Almalbis and Zsaris Mendioro to launch the recreated version of a popular song through the use of the Nissan X-Trail today.

While both singer-songwriters were in quarantine at their homes, Zsaris was up for the challenge to make her own version of the hit single of Barbie entitled, “Money for Food” through the sounds of the Nissan X-Trail like the car turn signals, seats, and door. They also utilized the sound activations of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility features like blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert as well as moving object detection that demonstrates the various features of the vehicle that make it well-known.

Barbie Almalbis shared, “This is definitely one of the most unique musical projects I’ve ever worked on. I never imagined that someone could make music with a vehicle, but by discovering more about the Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Intelligent Mobility, I realized that it is indeed possible. This project really showed me how versatile this vehicle could be — not only as a great ride, but also as a surprising musical instrument! This was a great way for Zsaris and I to explore our art, and we hope that this would inspire everyone to stay creative while staying safe at home.”

Live looper Zsaris Mendioro reiterated, “This is the epitome of a creative challenge — when I first heard about this project, recreating such an iconic song using the sounds of the Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, I was stunned. But actually, it forced me to think outside the box while being at home and was a new experience that gave me the opportunity to find creativity anywhere, at anytime, from anything! And also having the opportunity to work virtually with Barbie.”

Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Atsushi Najima continually urges individuals to promote safety and creativity while staying in their homes.

Najima added that as the pioneer vehicle in the country to feature the Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the Nissan X-trail has a distinct range of sounds that aid in creating a secure and safe experience for both passengers and drivers. The Nissan X-trail is said to instill passion and ingenuity since it seeks to promote an intelligent, comfortable, and smooth drive that can handle any obstacle on the road.
