Xpeng formally enters PH market

MANILA: Xpeng officially entered the Philippine market as it continues to boost its presence in the Southeast Asian region.

The brand made its official local debut at the SM Mall of Asia Arena by formally unveiling the X9 and L03 nameplates.

“Tonight, Filipino customers saw the full range of choices behind our Philippine debut, from the space and comfort of the Xpeng X9 to the different electric driving options offered by the Xpeng L03,” Xpeng Philippines Country Director Katoon Su said.

“We are pairing these vehicles with comprehensive ownership support and a growing dealer network because the customer experience after the launch matters just as much as the technology presented on stage.”

Here’s what you need to know about the two newly launched models.

Xpeng X9

Offered in two trims, the Xpeng X9 serves as the marque’s flagship multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). It is powered by a front-wheel-drive electric system that can dish out:

This is mated to a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery that allows the X9 to cover an all-electric range of 615 kilometers. Under optimal conditions, this energy bank can be juiced up from 10 to 80 percent in around 12 minutes. 

Both trims also get a 5.4-meter turning radius, thanks to their class-leading active rear-wheel steering, an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system, and a powered third row.

The version with the Premium Seat Package comes with four-way powered headrest adjustment and 16-point massage, while the Long Range trim has Zero-Gravity seats separated by a central aisle. 

Xpeng is offering the X9 with the following exterior and interior color options:

Xpeng L03

On the other hand, the Xpeng L03 is being retailed in three battery-electric (EV) and one range-extended (REEV) variations. Despite the differences in powertrain configurations, all four trims are equipped with an electric motor at the rear axle. 

The model’s Long Range Ultra and Long Range versions both take advantage of a 71.1-kWh battery but have varying driving ranges: the former can do 480 km, while the latter can do 520 km. Its EV Standard Range version has a 58.3-kWh battery with up to 445 km of range. 

Further, the REEV trim is outfitted with a 37.2-kWh battery, providing up to 215 km of pure electric range. Fully utilizing it with a full tank of fuel, the vehicle can travel as much as 1,017 km. 

The sport utility vehicle coupé’s full roster boasts a five-seat cabin, a 539-liter rear luggage area, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and a suite of driver assistance and safety technologies—with the top-spec version receiving front-seat massage, an upgraded sound system, and additional intelligent driving hardware.

All Xpeng models come with ownership packages covering preventive maintenance, roadside assistance, vehicle and electric-component warranties, and charging equipment.

The Xpeng X9 has five years of free preventive maintenance services, five years of free roadside assistance, a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, an eight-year warranty for the battery and electric motor, and a seven-kilowatt wall charger. 

Alternatively, the Xpeng L03 comes with two years of free preventive maintenance services, five years of free roadside assistance, a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, and an eight-year warranty for the battery and electric motor. Customers who purchase the Xpeng L03 EV will also receive a seven-kW wall charger, while those who acquire the REEV variant will receive a 3.5-kW portable charger.

Clients may reserve an Xpeng X9 for P25,000 and the L03 for P10,000, with vehicle deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Aside from revealing its initial lineup of products, Xpeng Philippines also got Filipino artist Anne Curtis as its official brand ambassador.

The presentation also offered a glimpse of Xpeng’s innovations beyond automobiles through special displays of the X2 Flying Car and IRON Humanoid Robot. Performances by singer-songwriter TJ Monterde, Pinoy pop group GAT, and social media personality Criselda Alvarez further added to the scale and energy of the arena launch.
