WATCH: 'Prevention is better than cure' also applies to your car

"Prevention is better than cure," so goes the old health advice. And you can follow the same principle to your car, too.

It's always best to follow your car's preventive maintenance service (PMS) schedule, which usually consists of an oil change, spark plug change, and replacement of various filters.  

While you're at it, replace the car's parts such as the radiator, tires, and brakes, before they expire due to age and mileage 

Not only does timely maintenance keep your car healthy, it also ensures your personal safety. Your car will be less likely to leave you stranded and put you in danger while in motion. 

With regular PMS, your car's important components — like the engine and transmission — are less likely to break, saving you from big repair bills in the process. 

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) knows the importance of PMS, that's why it has shared a PMS interval guide — specifically meant for the cars of the Japanese carmaker. 

The guide tells us at which times or mileage figures your Honda car is required to undergo a PMS, and the parts and fluids your car needs at every service.  See Honda's handy reference below.

For Honda vehicles, these only two need PMS visits a year, compared to the quarterly PMS required by other brands, HCPI said.

At Honda dealers and service centers, HCPI said it has laid out safety measures against COVID-19 spread.

Customers need to have their bodies' temperature checked upon entry, declare their health practice social distancing, and disinfect their hands at the provided sanitizer stations.
