Osmena Highway to be closed for sub 400cc bikes from 22 July 2019

MANILA: "Effective July 22, 2019 Motorcycle below 400cc not allowed at Skyway at grade from Sales going to Manila, Makati, and Pasay Take Pasong Tamo Extension”, says the traffic advisory. Hence, all the Filipinos riding motorcycles of under 400cc will not be able to use the Osmena Highway starting from July 22, 2019.
Skyway O&M, the company that runs the SLEX and Skyway, has made the official announcement. With that said, riders with sub 400cc bikes now won’t be allowed on the Osmena Highway from Sales Road in Pasay to Senator Gil Puyat Avenue. For riders going to Makati and Manila, the company has suggested using the Pasong Tamo Extension (Chino Roces Avenue Extension) near Gate 3 in Lawton Avenue. Skyway O&M has not yet given any clear reason behind the announcement.
In case the stretch of Osmena Highway from Makati to Villamor is also restricted, the riders headed south towards Alabang can use the internal roads of Bangkal Makati then exit at EDSA. Following the exit, the riders should take the Tramo flyover before turning left at Andrews Avenue. The West or East Service Road can then be taken for Alabang. For the riders going from Alabang to Makati or Manila, they can take the West or East Service Roads before using the Pasong Tamo Extension till Yakal. A left turn will then take you back to the Osmena Highway.
Skyway O&M has been allowing riders with sub 400cc motorcycles to use the Osmena Highway (SLEX) from some time now. Both the northern & southern routes from Quirino Avenue in Manila to Sales Interchange in Pasay and vice versa have been used by thousands of riders on a daily basis. However, the restrictions starting from July 22, 2019, will force most of them to take alternative routes.
