BYD Seal

Finished in a Thaumus Black artificial leather upholstery, the light and airy-looking cabin of the BYD Seal has contrast blue highlights and silver accents all around, which make the cabin look fresh and up-to-date. Making the interior of the Seal look futuristic is its 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console and the huge 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which has a rotating feature. 

The flat-bottomed tilt and telescopic adjustable multi-functional steering wheel is accompanied by smooth-flowing contours that extend towards the lower centre console. Equipped with several modern features like a 12-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, USB chargers, wireless chargers, LED cabin lights, ventilated, heated and electronically adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, a centre console storage compartment, dynamic ambient lighting, rear AC vents, air purifier and rear centre armrest, the BYD Seal ticks all the right boxes when it comes to pampering the occupants. 

Inspired by the sea creature seal, the new BYD Seal has a curvaceous and aerodynamic design, that makes the car look athletic even at a standstill. The front profile has an X-themed design with a trapezoidal hump over the bonnet.

The lower sides of the front profile of the Seal have C-shaped headlamp clusters with double U-floating LED headlamps. The front bumper also has hollows for air passages on the corners, which are accentuated by ripple-themed daytime running LEDs.

The BYD Seal has a dynamic waistline, coupe-like rounded roofline and smooth contours in its side profile, which further looks attractive with the flush-type door handles, waterdrop-shaped rearview mirrors and UV resistance double glazing panoramic sunroof. The 19-inch aero-inspired alloy wheels also give the sedan a well-planted stance.

At the back, the Seal has a sleek-looking combination LED tail lamps with curved outer edges and a thin LED-connected light bar between them running across the width of the boot lid.

The suspension combination of a double wishbone setup at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear of the BYD Seal has frequency selective damping shock absorbers, which results in comfortable and well-cushioned ride quality. Adding dynamism to the driving experience of the Seal are its 19-inch alloy wheels, though the steering feels artificial at higher speeds and lacks feedback.

The fully loaded Performance variant of the BYD Seal, which is on sale in the Philippines, has an all-wheel drive setup with its dual-motor combination that claims 530 PS of maximum power and 670 Nm of maximum torque. Claiming a 3.8-second timing for the 0-100 kmph run, the BYD Seal also has an 82.56kWh blade battery pack in this Performance variant, which claims 580 km of range in the Performance variant (under NEDC combined cycle).

The standard safety equipment list of the BYD Seal includes eight airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, 360-degree parking camera, intelligent power brake system, traction control, hill hold control, and auto hold.

Given that it is available in its fully-loaded version, the Philippines-spec BY Seal also has a long list of ADAS features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Prevention, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Predictive Collision Warning, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Front Cross Traffic Brake, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit Information, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Driver Attention Warning, Head-Up Display, Blind Spot Detection, Door Open Warning, High Beam Assist and Intelligence Torque Adaption Control.
