CFMoto 400 GT

The CF Moto 400 GT is a fully-faired sports tourer based on the more powerful 600 GT, and that’s pretty obvious with the way it looks. The overall design of the CF Moto 400 GT is entirely similar to the 600 GT, with the former having the same fascia, full fairing, tank, and tail section as the 600 GT. This design language does give the CF Moto 400 GT a very unique appearance in its category.

At the front, the distinctive-looking fascia of the CF Moto 400 GT comprises two large and angular headlamps, with the daytime running LEDs emerging from their central parts and flowing upwards. While these headlamps are placed slightly lower on the front fairing, the motorcycle also has a large and aerodynamic-looking transparent windscreen at the top. Along with the fairing-mounted rearview mirrors, the CF Moto 400 GT has its LED turn indicators mounted on the front edges of the side panels.

The CF Moto 400 GT possesses a muscular appeal in its side profile, with the sports tourer getting large front side panels and a bulky-looking fuel tank, which combine to give the motorcycle visual bulk towards the front. Being a sports tourer, the CF Moto 400 GT gets a lower-positioned touring handlebar. The bronze-themed engine is partially hidden behind the side body panels, with the CF Moto 400 GT also getting split seats and a compact tail section. The black alloy wheels of the CF Moto 400 GT have a contrast blue striping job for both front and rear wheels. The CF Moto 400 GT has a tiny LED tail lamp at the back, accompanied by split pillion grab rails.

The CF Moto 400 GT has a modern-looking cockpit that houses a 5-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the single-piece handlebar. This display unit packs in a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and more warning lights. The quality fit and finish levels of all the panels and components of the CF Moto 400 GT feel decent enough and justifiable for its asking price.

Apart from the overall styling, the CF Moto 400 GT also shares the rest of the mechanical setup with the larger 600 GT. For its suspension setup, the CF Moto 400 GT has traditional telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock with a rectangular swingarm at the rear. Riding on a 120/70 ZR17 front tyre and a 160/60 ZR17 rear tyre wrapped over 17-inch alloy wheels, the CF Moto 400 GT also has twin petal discs at the front and a single petal disc at the rear for braking.

The CF Moto 400 GT shares its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-twin, 400.4cc engine with the 400 NK. Here also, the engine produces a maximum power output of 41.5 PS and a peak torque output of 34.4 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, this inline-twin engine of the CF Moto 400 GT allows it to reach a top speed of 150 kmph. While the engine packs in adequate punch for its size, the refinement levels leave a scope for improvement at higher RPMs.

Besides offering a dual-channel ABS as standard, the CF Moto 400 GT doesn’t get any other new-age safety feature, which creates a notion of it being a slightly older motorcycle for its segment.

For a middleweight motorcycle that is priced at an affordable point, the CF Moto 400 GT impresses with its striking design, comfortable ride quality and ergonomics and promising performance numbers on paper. However, the motorcycle requires a few more features and more assurance about its reliability in the long run.
