CFMoto 650 NK

For a middleweight motorcycle, the CF Moto 650 NK has got the mass and bulk needed to give it a big bike appeal. However, the design looks a bit bulky and slightly outdated, and incorporation of new design cues can make it look stand out from the crowd.

The overall design of the CF Moto 650 NK has been more or less shared with the smaller 400 NK, and that is very evident from the design of the body panels. The front of the CF Moto 650 NK has been shared with the 400 NK, and that includes the sleek looking fairing with long headlamp assembly, LED turn indicators on its upper corners and a small tinted visor.

Even the large and muscular looking fuel tank with sharp fuel extensions and side body cowls of the CF Moto 650 NK have been shared with those of the 400 NK, save for the fact that here on the 650 NK, they have got a different livery theme. The underbody exhaust, as well as horizontal engine cowl, increases its beefiness in its visual appeal even more.

The curvy and heightened tailpiece of the CF Moto 650 NK with its split seat layout and petite LED tail lamp, along with a long rear fender, too looks much similar to that on the 400 NK.

The rider’s cockpit of the CFMoto 650 NK has the same field of vision as that of the 400 NK, with a long single piece handlebar, nicely placed rearview mirrors and a full TFT coloured rectangular instrument console, which shows a range of data onboard, like that of speedometer, odometer, trip meters, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and various warning indicators, with multiple display modes on offer. The build quality is decent and could have been better to match with that of the Japanese counterparts.

The CF Moto 650 NK comes with a conventional suspension setup of retractable type hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and cantilever type monoshock at the rear. While the suspension feels decent in its duties, it is surprising that CF Moto has skipped on upside forks for the 650 NK, considering the smaller models like 400 NK and 250 NK, and even for that matter, the 150 NK, comes with upside-down forks.

At the heart of the CFMoto 650 NK sits a four-stroke, inline twin, 8-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 649.3cc engine which has been shared with its other siblings, the 650 GT and the 650 MT. Here on the 650 NK, the engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 61 PS and a peak torque output of 56 Nm.

For a middleweight motorcycle, the figures seem decent and the wide torque range of the 650 NK gives it a nice pulling power for both short and long rides.

It is this aspect where the CF Moto 650 NK feels a bit under-equipped, for this motorcycle skips on many modern electronic riding aids which are now usually found in its peers. Save for ABS, which works decently with the dual disc brakes at the front and single disc brake at the rear, the CF Moto 650 NK doesn’t come with any other modern safety feature.

The CF Moto 650 NK comes across as a decent middleweight motorcycle that offers itself as a potent value for money option by offering punchy performance and big bike appeal at not so high price point. While it misses out on the modern appeal as that of its peers, it is one machine with simplicity in its soul and approach towards motorcycling.
