Kawasaki Ninja 500

In terms of dimensions, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 measures 1,995 mm in length, 730 mm in width, 1,120 mm in overall height, and 785 mm in seat height. This sportbike also has a wheelbase of 1,375 mm and a ground clearance of 145 mm. 

The Ninja 500’s predominantly-black design exudes a mix of sportiness and elegance wherever it goes. A pair of newly designed LED compact headlamps give its sharp fascia a confident-looking glow at night. Angular LED signal lights are also integrated into its front side fairings for more illumination at all times. It also comes with a transparent windscreen and geometric mirrors common to many new-gen Ninja models. Additionally, two spoilers that protrude forward add more detail to its overall front design. 

Upfront, the rider gets a full LCD instrument panel that displays the odometer, tachometer, speedometer, engine temperature, clock, as well as the respective indicators for its other features (e.g., gear, fuel, ABS, etc.). It also offers smartphone connectivity for easier access and control. This sportbike comes with a dual-stepped seat that offers decent cushioning for the rider but is a bit thin and narrow for the pillion. On the plus side, it is equipped with pillion foot rests and foot-forward footpegs for the rider, making stop-and-go traffic more tolerable.

Going back to design, sporty 17-inch wheels and a two-toned exhaust pipe complement its aggressive side profile. It also features white branding decals on its muscular side fairing and bulky fuel tank. Furthermore, its sharp rear is illuminated by an LED tail lamp with a futuristic vibe and another pair of LED signal lights.

In terms of suspension, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 comes with a Telescopic Fork at the front and a Bottom-Link Uni-Trak with a gas-charged shock and spring preload adjustability at the rear. This sportbike is confidence-inspiring to ride on winding roads and through sharp corners. In the city, it is light to steer and nimble to maneuver through crowded areas for its size, thanks to its lightweight trellis frame. Aside from that, it also offers great absorption of bumpy, uneven urban pavements.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is powered by a 451cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, parallel twin engine that produces a maximum power output of 38.3 kW (52 PS) and a maximum torque output of 42.6 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. 

On the open road, the Ninja 500 accelerates effortlessly. It is quick even at lower RPMs, courtesy of its engine’s strong low-to-midrange torque. This enables the rider to easily perform quick overtakes on free-flowing expressways and take on steep inclines in the provinces. Meanwhile, in the city, it is also manageable in stop-and-go traffic, thanks to its assist and slipper clutch feature. And, more importantly, it offers decent fuel efficiency for its displacement. That said, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 is a breeze to ride both in the city and on the highway. 

In terms of safety, the Ninja 500 is equipped with a heel guard, side reflectors, and Kawasaki’s anti-lock braking system. This sportbike utilizes a single semi-floating disc for front braking and a single disc for the rear. Its braking setup offers great stopping power even at high speeds.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is a rider-friendly sportbike that provides both novice and experienced riders with easy and enjoyable mobility both inside and outside the city. In my opinion, it effectively encapsulates Kawasaki’s standard of versatility on the road.
