Kawasaki W800 Design
The Kawasaki W800 comes with an exclusive classic retro design, which makes it unique and gives enough reasons to fight with the modern-day motorcycles. The manufacturer has recently got an update and thereafter, it was turned into a Scrambler. The motorcycle gets the iconic styling cues of the W series.
It gives a tribute to the Steve McQueen MX Vintage motorbike. As a part of the homage, the custom aluminium tank, side body covers and the front, as well as the rear fenders, are new. It also gets a huge fuel tank along with chrome finishes, just like the original Kawasaki W.
The owner doesn’t have to worry about the corrosion as the given aluminum rims are highly corrosion resistant. The Cosmer NC finish has been provided to the spokes and nipples that helps while wiping off the dirt.
It is an old-school motorcycle, which comes with a large round shaped headlamp. As a part of the multi-function LCD screen, a trip meter, clock, and odometer are offered.
W800 Ride & Handling
The Kawasaki W800 is a retro motorcycle which comes with a strong engine. Despite having a less power than the supersport bike, the riders will not have to worry before covering up a long distance in a short time span.
The two-wheeler comes with 14 litres of fuel capacity, which offers a very long riding range. Speaking of the suspensions, it comes with a telescopic fork at the front. Rubber gaitors are used in order to protect the fork tubes and also offers longevity. A twin shock setup is offered for the rear wheel. A buffed finish has been provided to the outer tubes that also contribute to the front end. The new suspension has a custom exhaust, which makes the sporty side stronger.
Kawasaki W800 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Under the hood of the Kawasaki W800, a Vertical Twin, 4-stroke, SOHC, air-cooled engine is offered to provide a good performance while gearing up the speed. The 773cc motor is capable of belting out a maximum of 47.5 hp at just 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 60 Nm, which comes at 2,500 rpm only.
The bike’s bevel-gear-driven camshaft is responsible for the iconic sound which is of the exhaust outlet. The whole combination results in a classical power and frugalness of the mill.
The two-wheeler comes with a 5-speed transmission that sends the power to the wheel. It does not require to be revved higher to squeeze the maximum power or torque. It means the rider won’t have to twist the throttle much to achieve the maximum power as well as the peak torque.
W800 Braking & Safety
The Kawasaki W800 comes with disc brake at the front while only a drum unit is offered at the rear. None of the brakes have ABS (anti-lock braking system). However, since the bike is a retro-styled model and the power is not that high like other middleweight options, it does not require ABS and the stock brakes that are provided are good enough to offer the required safety.
Coming to the safety features, the motorcycle comes with Pass switch and engine check warning for the convenience of the riders.
Kawasaki W800 Verdict
The Kawasaki W800 is only available in a standard trim in the Philippines and it gets a starting price tag of PHP 265,000. It is available in only two colour options - Grey and Black, resulting in limited choices for the customers. It gives a hard time to the Harley Davidson Street 750.
