Mio Gravis is available in 3 different colors - Matte Red, Matte Blue and Matt Black.
After a long time, Yamaha has taken the scooter segment with an all-new launch, in the form of Mio Gravis. With its sporty yet practical intentions, the Yamaha Mio Gravis targets both youngsters as well as adults. Priced at PHP 85,900, the Yamaha Mio Gravis is available in a standard variant and three colour options – Matte Red, Matte Black, and Matte Green.
Just like all the other Yamaha scooters and cub class bikes, the Yamaha Mio Gravis has a sporty road presence with sharpness in its overall design. The scooter has compact dimensions, but the sporty design language actually makes it look big on the road.
At the front, the Yamaha Mio Gravis has got a curvy front apron, with an Aerox 155 like V-shaped all-LED headlamp mounted on the lower centre of the apron. Another major highlight is the Y-shaped blackened element on the upper part of the apron. The handlebar cowl, as well as front fender, look pointy, with the former having a good contrasting blackened centre portion.
The side profile of the Yamaha Mio Gravis looks quite athletic to the eyes, thanks to the aerodynamic flowing design from end to end. The turn indicators are mounted on the outer lower edges of the front apron in a vertical manner. The side body cowls are designed in a simple manner, but the uplifted and slim design make it look sporty.
Despite its compact size, the Yamaha Mio Gravis has thoughtfully designed footboards with carved out knee recesses, so that taller riders don’t find any problem while riding. The back profile of the Yamaha Mio Gravis looks simple with a trapezoidal tail lamp assembly and a large pillion grab rail behind the long and wide single seat which is capacious enough to seat two adults with ease.
The large seat also hides a very huge 25-litre of underseat storage space, which is really surprising considering the compact size of the scooter. The back of the apron has external fuel filler on one side and the smart shutter keyhole with lockable function and electric power socket on the other.
The triangular rider’s cockpit with tapered edges consists of a diminutive instrument console. The rectangular LCD screen shows fully digital readouts for speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge. The fonts are too small to be easily legible while on the go. The simple switchgear also includes a hazard lamp switch as well.
All the Yamaha scooters are known for their ease of riding with a sporty essence, and the Mio Gravis is no different. The scooter comes blessed with an underbone frame, along with telescopic forks at the front and unit swing with coil spring at the rear. The scooter rides on large 12-inch wheels and 100mm section tyres on both ends, which not only give it a sporty stance, but also aid in providing superior grip in all conditions.
The Yamaha Mio Gravis sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-valve, 125cc engine, which is mated to a traditional CVT gearbox. The engine is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 9.5 PS and a peak torque output of 9.5 Nm. These figures are quite strong, given the low kerb weight of the Mio Gravis of just 100 kgs, giving it tremendous power to weight ratio.
In the name of safety, the Yamaha Mio Gravis is quite basic, with the scooter getting a front disc brake, along with an easy to use shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole.
The Yamaha Mio Gravis has a sporty essence in its entire design language and its peppy performance, which should definitely appeal to the younger generation buyers. But with practical and thoughtful features, large seat with equally large storage space beneath it and a great balance of ride and handling, it is very appealable for the mature and adult buyers as well. This makes the Yamaha Mio Gravis a very practical scooter and a jack of all trades.
