2016 SUV Catalogue, Launched & Soon to Arrive : Read Before You Buy

MANILA: Past few years have witnessed a growing likeness towards sports utility vehicles and crossovers. And it didn't take long before automakers tracked this emerging trend, flooding the global market with a number of options, each better than the previous. Further supporting the theory are luxury automakers Bentley and Rolls-Royce, who never before in the history created SUV's and have now employed men in the said segment. The Philippines auto market didn't remain untouched from this new scenario and very soon we began to witness more and more SUV's and crossovers entering our fields. Each year automakers would either revamp the existing versions or bring a new model altogether. The year 2016, is no less than any other of its 365 days counterparts and has a bag full of toys called SUV'S and crossovers. Now, some of these toys are already out in the showrooms, while others are soon expected to make an appearance.

Now let's have a look at the 2016 SUV Catalogue -

Toyota Fortuner -

This one can be regarded as the very first launch of the year 2016. It was not its launch but the time of its launch that surprised many in the Philippines auto world. What was considered as a sure MIAS launch contender, was introduced is a small event in the presence of top Toyota and media officials. Toyota Fortuner is not a new name for our market as we have one running for quite some time now. This scenario hinted towards a strong revision requirement that was fulfilled by the automaker on 15th January 2015. All-new Fortuner is new in every aspect, like for its new engine options. It is now available with a - 2.8L turbodiesel (177 PS & 450 Nm), 2.4L turbo diesel (150 PS & 400 Nm) and 2.7L gasoline engine (165 PS & 254 Nm). Also, unlike the previous form, this one is not a full-time 4WD vehicle, instead comes with a switchable 2WD option.

Isuzu mu-X -

Yes, a brand new mu-X do exists somewhere out and we are eagerly waiting for one. Recently, at the 2016 Bangkok Auto Show, Isuzu introduced the updated version of same and it received an overall positive response. The automaker has stuffed it with prominent changes both on the inside and outside, making us all more excited for its arrival. So for the year 2016, mu-X gets high-end revisions like quieter interior with an extra sound barrier sheet, Natural Touch Decorative Wood, and Piano Black inserts, 8-inch audio system, built-in car video recorder, auto-dimming rearview mirror and much more. Under the hood revisions are no less, as now it houses a 1.9L Ddi Blue Power engine with a churning capacity of 150 PS and 350 Nm. If that's not all to impress you, then the following information will surely raise an eyebrow. The 2016 mu-X now has reduced its fuel diet by 19% and has limited its CO2 emissions to 161g per liter.

Mitsubishi Montero Sport -

 

This one created a lot of hype on the internet before it finally landed on the Philippine soil on 21st January 2016. Seeing its recent launch and public likeness, we are expecting a grand Montero Sport showcasing at the 2016 MIAS. Also, Mitsubishi Philippines witnessed a sudden hike its sales figure with the entry of 2016 Montero Sport. Seeing its immense popularity and high demand, Mitsubishi Philippines have even launched a fully dedicated site for Montero Sport. Available in four variants, each comes powered by the new 2.4L 4N15 diesel engine generating a maximum power output of 181 PS at 3500 rpm along with peak torque yield of 430 Nm at 2500 Nm. On to its wall of fame are present recognitions like - 5-star safety rating from ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program) and Latin NCAP. Thus, making it the best SUV available in the price range of PhP 1,500,000 - PhP 2,000,000.

Kia Sportage -

We are not sure, whether you know it or not, but it was only last week when Kia introduced its new warrior on the Philippines field, by the 2016 Kia Sportage. And referring to its recent launch, we are expecting it to house center stage at Kia's booth in 2016 MIAS. The new Sportage now carries an aggressive face, owing to features like tiger-nose grille, swept-back headlights with circular DRLs 'ice-cube-fog lamps, flared wheel arches, LED tail lights, faux diffuser, and twin exhaust. Cabin area is filled with convenience and comforting features, making it both, a driver's oriented and occupants intended vehicle. It's enhanced dimensions not only provide it a bigger stance but also improves its cabin and booth spacing. Lastly, all-new Kia Sportage comes powered by a 2.0L 4CYL CRDi diesel mill, tuned to generate a maximum power of 184 hp along with a peak torque of 402 Nm. 2016 Kia Sportage price will range between PhP 1,445,000 and PhP 1,795,000.
