2018 SsangYong Rodius facelift revealed

MANILA: SsangYong has revealed the facelifted model of the Rodius with minor aesthetic changes and a few extra techs inside the cabin. This is the Rodius’ second update ever since it was introduced in 2013. The first update was given in 2015 which included a minor refresh.

The 2018 SsangYong Rodius has been given a slight touch up at the front. The facelifted model gets slimmer headlights. To make the vehicle look a bit more modern, SsangYong has included LED daytime running lights that are located at the top part of the headlamps.

Apart from this, the front grille of the new Rodius has also been revised, making it look similar to what we see in SsangYong's other products. We also see a slightly redesigned bumper. The rest of the vehicle remains unchanged, and SsangYong seems to have kept it untouched with the same old two-part combination taillights and a big boot lid.

Stepping inside the cabin of the facelifted SsangYong Rodius you won’t find any major change. If you have been inside the previous model, you will feel just at home in the new one. A significant change one could notice is an updated infotainment system that now gets Bluetooth connectivity along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. SsangYong has also included a new steering wheel to keep things a bit interesting.

If we talk about the engine, the 2018 Rodius, powered by the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder engine. This mill churns out 178 PS of max power at 4,000 revs and generates 400 Nm of peak torque that kicks in at as low as 2,800 revs. The Rodius is available in three trims - SX, EX, and ELX. The base model is available in 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the mid and high-end variant gets the 5-speed automatic transmission.

The price of the ongoing Rodius model starts at Php 1.29 million and goes all the way up to Php 1.59 million. SsangYong has released the new Rodius in the UK, and we are expecting it to arrive in the Philippines soon.
