Audi earns most podium wins among luxury brands in MotorTrend’s Ultimate Car Rankings

MANILA: Five Audi models ranked first in their respective categories in MotorTrend’s Ultimate Car Rankings for the second half of 2022. Audi was the highest-ranking luxury car brand, gaining the most top-three podium wins than any other luxury car manufacturer on the list. In total, nine Audi models earned podium finishes in the rankings.

All of the top-ranking models received recognition for their cutting-edge technology and design.

The Audi A5 Sportback ranked first in the compact luxury fastback category. MotorTrend commended the Audi A5 Sportback for its “great design, strong fuel economy, and the sportback’s usable cargo space.” The A5 body styles are classy, stylish, and athletic, making them good choices for luxury customers.

The Audi A6 sedan, on the other hand, ranked first in the midsize luxury sedan category. It is equipped with the latest Audi technology, including improved accessibility to Driver’s Assistance and adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance. The A6 sedan 45 is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 261hp and 273lb-ft of torque, while the A6 sedan 55 is powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine that generates 335hp and 369lb-ft of torque.

“All-around solid performance has kept the Audi A6 near the top of a very competitive segment. In the latest MotorTrend rankings update, it has earned a first place ranking – a real accomplishment in a class full of choices,”  MotorTrend Buyer’s Guide Director Zach Gale stated.

Meanwhile, the Audi A6 allroad ranked first in the midsize luxury wagon category. It features an ultra-quiet cabin with high-quality materials. An optional black dinamica headliner is available for the Prestige variant.

The Audi A7 ranked first in the midsize luxury fastback category. It features a captivating design with a wide grille and slim, geometric LED headlights. On the inside, it is equipped with several screens and buttons that are easy to reach.

Another model that was recognized is the Audi Q8, which ranked first in the midsize luxury fastback SUV category. The Audi Q8 comes standard with HD Matrix-design LED headlights, headlight washers, and coming/leaving home animation for both headlights and taillights. As Audi’s flagship SUV, the Q8 strikes a balance between performance, interior space, and aesthetic appeal.

The Audi A3, Audi A4 sedan, and Audi A8 placed second in the subcompact luxury car, compact luxury sedan, and full-size luxury car categories, while the Audi Q7 ranked third in the three-row luxury SUV category.

Launched in 2020, MotorTrend’s Ultimate Car Rankings aims to help average car buyers in better understanding their options. Performance, fuel efficiency, technology and design innovation, value, and safety are all taken into account when determining rankings. Any model that receives a score of 8 or above on a 10-point scale represents an above-average or excellent performance.

“Since we launched MotorTrend Ultimate Car Rankings in 2020, one thing has stood out about Audi in the luxury world: consistency. Audi has consistently been a strong performer,” Gale added.
