Audi Q8 e-tron concept revealed at NAIAS 2017
MANILA: After teasing the sketches of the upcoming Audi Q8 e-tron concept, the German automaker has finally revealed the concept at the NAIAS 2017. According to Audi, the previewed model features the capabilities of a spacious SUV and flaunts the dynamic lines of a coupe.
The Design
Audi Q8 possess an impressive stance, with a total length of 5,022 mm. The octagonal single frame and honeycomb insert on the grille gives a unique as well as aggressive appeal to the SUV. The flat, wedge-shaped headlights accompanying the grille further improves the sportiness of the SUV in an effective manner.
Window frames are missing on the doors, which result into flat roofline while the fenders and side panels are designed precisely to match the overall design theme. Even the wheel arches have received special attention from the designers and feature double highlighting design.
With a wheelbase counting to 2987 mm, the Q8 offers spacious cabin for four people with a room for excessive luggage. The SUV boast a boot space measuring 630 litres. The cabin also features a virtually floating console that provides the control over the 8-speed Tiptronic transmission which is purely electric. The premium feel of the SUV is ensured by Fina Nappa Leather and Nubuck leather covered on the seats with a pinch of pastel silver finish on it.
Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board Of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi AG said, “ The Q8 e-tron concept reflects the company’s peak form. The SUV not only reflects the technical strength of the company but, designing capabilities as well. It also provides the glimpse at the future full-size production SUV.”
Engine
Talking about the powertrain of the SUV, the Audi Q8 e-tron is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine which is coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an electric motor. The total power output measures 449 PS while the peak torque rest at 700 Nm. The lithium-ion battery of Q8 e-tron consists of 104 prismatic cells with a capacity of producing 17.9 kWh. Audi also claims that the electric motor can be charged fully within 2.5 hours.
The production model will be ready by 2018 and we might see it even in the Philippines. But, nothing official has been stated by the company yet.
