CAMPI, TMA record 3 successive months of double-digit growth in May

MANILA: A joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) shows total vehicle sales for May reached 26,370 units, equivalent to 19.5% growth compared with 22,062 units recorded in the same period a year ago.

In a statement, CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez said that “the economic recovery from the ripple effects of the pandemic and the overall robust domestic demand are major contributing factors to the continued improvement of the automotive sales performance recorded in May." 

“Based on our data, the industry has already recorded double-digit percentage growth for three consecutive months on a year-over-year basis, indicating that recovery is underway,"  Atty. Gutierrez added. 

Year to date, CAMPI-TMA sold 126,273 units, equivalent to 14.6% growth compared to the same period last year.

In terms of passenger vehicle sales in May 2022, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recorded the most number of vehicles sold with 4,036 units. TMP is followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) with 1,383 units and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) with 635 units.  

For total commercial vehicle sales, the top three brands are TMP with 10,687 units, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) with 1,854 units, and MMPC with 1,556 units.
