Daniel Craig promotes Denza

MANILA: British actor Daniel Craig, famous for his roles as Benoit Blanc in the mystery movie series Knives Out and as the titular super spy in James Bond, is set to headline Denza’s latest global expansion through the introduction of the B5, B8, and Z9 GT in various markets, including the Philippines. 

Specifically, Craig will appear in several of the luxury marque’s marketing materials and television commercials. The brand says this is part of its efforts to attract a new generation of customers who are keen on cars that showcase “advanced innovation and refined design.” 

“Daniel Craig represents a powerful combination of strength, sophistication, and authenticity—qualities that resonate deeply with what Denza stands for. As we introduce the brand to global markets across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, we are proud to collaborate with an actor whose presence reflects the spirit of Denza,” Executive Vice President of BYD Global Stella Li said. 

“Together, we aim to showcase how technology, design, and emotion can shape a new vision of premium mobility,” Li added. 

As mentioned, Craig’s involvement with Denza is linked to the rollout of the B5 and B8, both of which are due for launch in the Philippine market this April. The two will join the Denza D9 DM-i, which was already introduced back in February 2026.

Additionally, the Denza B5 and B8 are both slated to be previewed at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), from April 9-12 at the World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City.

Denza B5, B8: basic specifications

For now, Denza Philippines has yet to publish the full specs and features list of the B5, B8, and Z9 GT. The Department of Energy (DOE), however, already has some details regarding these electrified vehicles. 

Powertrain-wise, the B5 uses two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) paired with a 31.8-kilowatt-hour (kWh) Blade battery and a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. 

At maximum, this powertrain can deliver up to 505 horsepower (hp) and 760 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

Meanwhile, the Denza B8 comes with a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a slightly larger 36.8 kWh Blade battery. It also uses dual PMSM units, and it can generate up to 570 hp and 760 Nm of torque. 

Both the B5 and D9 models come with a 4x4 system with locking differentials. The two also feature direct-current fast charging, up to 100 kilometers of electric-only range, and a vehicle-to-load feature. 

On the other hand, the Z9 GT is a shooting brake (wagon) that's either a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) like the other Denza models. 

In other markets, the Denza Z9 GT PHEV uses a triple motor setup that can produce up to 858 hp. 

If we refer to the Chinese market versions, the Denza B5, B8, and Z9 GT also get luxurious interiors that are decked out in tech. The two come with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with ventilation and lumbar support, automatic anti-glare rear-view mirrors, an ambient lighting system, automatic climate control systems, a cooled cargo bin, a panoramic sunroof, and an abundance of digital displays - among others. 

Safety-wise, we can expect the Denza B5 and B8 that's coming to the local market to have roughly the same advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) as the Denza D9. The aforementioned may include the following: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Forward collision warning
• Automatic emergency braking
• Rear-cross traffic alert and braking
• Traffic sign recognition
• Emergency lane keeping assist
