Here are a few notable features upmarket car buyers can expect from the Denza D9.

    Elegant exterior

Outside, the Denza D9 commands attention with its π-Motion fascia, with a larger-than-life “diamond-cut” grille. The front end is characterized by minimalist lines that extend to both sides for a cleaner look.

Aside from the LED illumination, some chrome appliques can be found surrounding the meshwork.

The side profile is defined by what the company likes to call the “meteor trail waistline,” which is essentially the beltline that runs through the front and back — evoking a smooth motion.

Clean are its flanks, highlighted only by chrome garnishes on the lower portions of the doors (Denza D9 has power sliding doors) and the surrounding area of its windows. The side mirrors are body-colored with some black accents that match the B-pillars of the MPV.

It rides on two-tone 18-inch wheels shod in 235/60 Michelin e-Primacy tires.

At the back is a roof-mounted spoiler with a light bar serving as its third brake lamp, a decent-sized window, combination taillamps that Denza calls the “star feather taillight,” a chrome trim on the bumper with two reflectors on each side, and a power tailgate.

    Other stories:

    Opulent interior

Once would-be owners enter the MPV, they are greeted by an opulent cabin that can make even the worst traffic jam a pleasurable experience.

The driver is treated to a leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, a crisp-looking head-up display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.67-inch floating infotainment screen.

On the center console is a wireless charger to juice up compatible smartphones without the clutter.

Seats here are electronically controlled, with ventilation and massage functions.

More toys can be found at the back, as people who will purchase the Denza D9 will likely be spending more time on the second row than on the first.

Spoiling owners who prefer to be chauffeured are captain seats swathed in Nappa leather. These too are electronically powered and will change the way its owners travel with a massager and ventilation features. On longer drives, the spacious chairs also have deployable footrests to help them take better naps on the road.

These captain seats, by the way, were designed with zero gravity technology to provide optimum ergonomics and relieve back pressure when traveling.

BYD and Denza Philippines Country Head Adam Hu noted that the said feature (zero gravity seats) is something one can find on luxury jets.

Dedicated touchscreen control panels are placed on the armrests of each chair for ease of operation.

Other notable features include the pull-down backseat table, for those who want to snack (or work) while traveling; an integrated freezer to keep cold beverages cool (can turn into a heater to keep food or coffee warm), and a panoramic sunroof (with power sunshade) — perfect for the natural lighting one needs for car selfies.

    Here are some impressive appointments:

    • Intelligent voice control
    • NFC, Bluetooth, digital key
    • 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system
    • 41 storage compartments
    • Maximum of 2,310-liter luggage capacity

Another luxurious feature worth noting is the use of real wood veneers on the dashboard of the MPV. No two Denza D9s are the same, as each wooden veneer has its own unique pattern or grain, providing opulent car buyers a level of exclusivity with their rides.

    Hybrid powertrain

The Denza D9 is propelled by a hybrid powertrain comprised of a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine and two permanent magnet synchronous motors. Present too is the BYD Blade battery with a rating of 40 kilowatt-hours.
