All-new Honda Prelude pre-order period to start tomorrow

MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines, Incorporated (HCPI) will begin accepting reservations for the all-new Prelude starting tomorrow (February 27).

The aforementioned announcement seems to be pointing at an earlier launch date for the liftback coupe — possibly ahead of this year’s Manila International Auto Show (set in April) and the Philippine International Motor Show (scheduled on June).

The all-new Honda Prelude was first spotted locally during the final leg of the 2025 HondaFest. At the said event, HCPI President Rie Miyake did not disclose any specifics regarding the vehicle’s official introduction in the country.

In a statement, the company described the model as a “bridge between nostalgic, well-loved heritage and new technology tailored for today’s market.” Prior to its comeback, the Prelude nameplate had been discontinued in several markets since 2001.

The model is set to replace the Honda Civic Type R in HCPI’s sports car lineup.

Here are some facts about the all-new Honda Prelude bound for the Philippine market.

The brand’s proprietary technology called the S+ Shift has been introduced in the all-new Honda Prelude — enhancing the hybrid drive experience by allowing virtual gear changes.

Built around the “Unlimited Glide” design concept, the all-new Honda Prelude features a low ride height, clean body lines, and light proportions.

HCPI also noted that its suspension components are similar to the Civic Type R.

Aside from that, the sports coupe has a cargo space that can carry two golf bags.

According to the Department of Energy, the all-new Honda Prelude is powered by a 2.0-liter e:HEV gasoline mated to an electronic continuous variable transmission (running on front-wheel-drive format), which can deliver a combined fuel economy rating of 25.6 km/LGe.

Further, the energy department also shared that the model would have the following creature comforts:

• 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster
• Dual-zone automatic air conditioning
• Active cornering lamps
• Ambient lighting system
• Auto-dimming rearview mirror
• Tilt and telescopic steering column
• Leather steering wheel
• Drive mode selector
• Active noise control
• Wireless smartphone charging
• Nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mated to an eight-piece Bose speaker set
• Power-fold/adjust side mirrors
• Rain-sensing wipers
• 60:40 split-fold rear seats
• Push-to-start button
• Electronic parking brake
• Google Automotive Services

On paper, the vehicle measures, 4,522 millimeters (mm) long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,355 mm tall with a 2,605-mm wheelbase and 115-mm ground clearance.

It rides on 19-inch wheels, and the powertrain is mated on an electronic continuous variable transmission.

Lastly, HCPI added that the all-new Honda Prelude — which will be retailed in the sole 2.0 e:HEV E-CVT trim — can be had in the following colors:

• Moonlit White Pearl (new and exclusive to the Prelude)
• Rallye Red
• Racing Blue Pearl
• Meteoroid Gray Metallic
• Crystal Black Pearl
