John Cena owns an all-new Honda Prelude 

MANILA: John Cena is now a proud owner of an all-new Honda Prelude. 

The recently-retired World Wrestling Entertainment superstar posted on his official Instagram account a photo of the rear end of the all-new Honda Prelude. While we can’t see him (yes, pun intended), visible is Cena’s hand holding the hybrid sports car’s key with what appears to be a small plushie. 

No caption was written to accompany the picture, but Honda United States’ official Instagram page wittingly replied, “We can’t see him, but we can see that all-new Honda Prelude.” 

Meanwhile, the superstar shared in his Facebook page that he got his new car as soon as he was took his Civic Type R FL5 for service.

“Thank U Wesley Chapel Honda for helping add this Boost Blue Beauty to the Honda Lineup! Time to see what this thing can do!!!” Cena said in his social media post.

In a chance interview at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated President Rie Miyake shared to Zigwheels Philippines that the all-new Prelude is on its way to the country. Following this, the model was presented at the Honda Fest 2025, which marked the brand’s 35th anniversary by showcasing its past, present, and future offerings.

Now on its sixth generation, the Japanese automaker brought back the iconic nameplates (which is now on its sixth generation) in September 2025 — some 24 years after it was discontinued in 2001.

In a previous report, Zigwheels Philippines shared the official specifications of the all-new Honda Prelude for the local market. 

Vehicle specifications

Based on a document released by the Department of Energy, the forthcoming Honda Prelude will be offered as hybrid sports car.

Under its hood is a 2.0-liter e:HEV engine paired with a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor. Here is how the setup fares:

Power is sent to the wheels in front-wheel-drive configuration using an electric continuously variable transmission with paddle shifters that features shift-by-wire technology. 

With this powertrain setup, the two-door coupe has the capability to reach 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from standstill in 8.2 seconds — with a top speed of 188 kph.

Additionally, the vehicle can reportedly do 23.6 kilometers per liter consumption (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle standards).

Inside the cabin are blue and white perforated smooth leather front seats (with low side support) in Houndstooth pattern, black fabric rear seats, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, nine-inch touchscreen display infotainment system with Google Automotive Services (with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, an Alcantara leather-covered flat-bottom steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, and active noise control.

As seen at the JMS 2025, the vehicle’s modern-looking body with a sleek silhouette is outfitted with the following:

• High gloss black honeycomb front bumper with blue accent

Recently, Honda unveiled the “Prelude HRC Concept” at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.

The prototype comes with upgrades that come in the form of a front lip and rear diffusers, distinct honeycomb grille, front air vents, side skirts, rear spoiler, side mirror garnish, wheels, and brakes.
