Honda highlights next-gen Prelude design ahead of Sept. 2025 launch
Latest iteration of iconic nameplate is a hybrid
MANILA: Honda Motor Company Limited has previewed the return of the iconic Prelude nameplate via a teaser. While the all-new, sixth-generation Honda Prelude has been kept as a two-seater model, it now uses the Japanese marque’s proprietary hybrid powertrain, the e:HEV, which is already in present on locally available models such as the Civic, HR-V, and CR-V.

The upcoming Honda Prelude will be powered by the e:HEV system.For now, no powertrain details were released, but as mentioned above, it will be equipped with the brand’s e:HEV system. So, for perspective, the Philippine-spec Honda Civic RS e:HEV can put out 139 horsepower (hp) and 182 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque from its 2.0-liter gasoline engine. Its electric motor further adds 181 hp and 315 Nm of torque.
Exterior preview
Honda likewise released several pictures of the upcoming Prelude to showcase its exterior and interior design.
Photo from HondaTo start, the pictures show a taut-looking coupe with a sharp nose that is flanked by a pair of keen headlamp clusters (adaptive beams and active cornering lamps). It doesn’t get a huge grille, but it is capped from the bottom by a prominent front bumper with a large vent.
Complementing the pointed front end of the Honda Prelude are flush door handles, a large-opening liftback, and a largely smooth side section, with the exception of its bulging rear haunches and sizeable vents just behind the front wheels.
Photo from HondaAgain, no measurements of the car were disclosed, but the Japanese marque shared that it will have an “optimized wheelbase” and 19-inch alloy wheels that are worthy of a “specialty sports model.”
Additionally, the upcoming Honda Prelude will be available in four distinct color options, which include:
- Moonlit White Pearl
- Meteoroid Gray Metallic
- Crystal Black Pearl
- Flame Red
A limited-edition version with a black-colored roof will also be available for people who have signed up as members of the Honda On program. Moreover, the said version will also get blue details on its front and rear bumpers, as well as blue colored brake calipers.

The interior of the all-new Honda Prelude, on the other hand, sports a two-tone color scheme complemented by embroidered logos, soft-touch surfaces, a digital gauge cluster, a D-shaped steering wheel, and bolstered seats.
Photo from HondaInterestingly, the interior pictures of the model show that it will be equipped with a push-button type gear selector and paddle shifters. The vehicle will also have a floating-type infotainment headunit and physical buttons for its air-conditioning system.
Global launch date
According to the Japanese carmaker, the Honda Prelude will officially launch sometime in September 2025. We here at Zigwheels Philippines, however, are hoping that it will reach our local shores in the near future as well.
