Zigwheels PH most viewed for 2025: Honda BR-V
2nd-generation model priced from P1.165-P1.4 million
Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) released the second-generation BR-V a few years back.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Honda BR-V?
The Honda BR-V is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. How much power does it make?
It puts out some 119 hp.Since it has been on the market for quite some time now, it can be considered as a tried and tested model, especially since its predecessor — the Mobilio-like first-generation multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) — enjoyed a decent run of approximately five to six years.
Photo collated by Zigwheels PhilippinesOn that note, it’s somewhat expected for the nameplate to be in Zigwheels Philippines’ list of top 20 most viewed cars in 2025.
Here are a few reasons why we believe the Honda BR-V deserves the spot it enjoys.

SUV-like design
As a Honda BR-V owner himself, one of the most appealing features the author loved about the second-gen model is its sport utility vehicle (SUV)-like design.
Unlike segment rivals with short snouts that resemble the minivans of old, the Honda BR-V has a somewhat longer bonnet resembling that of larger models. In addition, it sports blacked-out claddings on its wheel arches, the bottom portion of its doors, and side sills.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaReinforcing its capable look is a pair of roof rails, a set of two-tone 17-inch wheels, and black pillars. Its rear end packs a simple design with a skid plate-like appointment in higher trims.
Notable exterior features such as LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps, large horizontal slats on its main grille, and a meshwork with honeycomb design for its lower fascia.
Its side profile boasts straight bodylines that suggest stability, while some contours that give shape to its wheel wells indicate agility and athleticism. From this angle too, car buyers can admire its decent ground clearance at 207 millimeters (mm) and gracious wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
The aforementioned alloy wheels house disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaIts rear-end has an integrated spoiler with the third brake lamp housed inside the decent-sized glass. All variants get a hydraulically-assisted tailgate, and even the entry-level trim packs a rear parking camera.
The chunky bumper here gets two reflectors on each side.
Overall, the Honda BR-V is a vehicle one will not be ashamed to be seen in. For added flair, HCPI is selling genuine accessories for the model, which include the below:
- Front fender garnish
- Door mirror garnish
- Side step garnish cover
- Exhaust pipe finisher
- Tailgate garnish
- Door handle protector
- Door visor
- Seat back protector
- Cargo tray
If one wants to go down the rabbit hole, there are plenty of aftermarket parts that do not require punching holes or trimming any components of the Honda BR-V. Notable ones include deep dish mattings for added interior protection and Indonesia-based Otoproject’s honeycomb grille that can make the vehicle look like its bigger brother, the CR-V.
Spacious interior
One thing that stands out with the Honda BR-V is its interior space.
With the driver and front passenger’s seats arranged properly, there is still enough room left for people sitting in the second row. To manage the area for the third row, the second-row bench can be slid forward and backward to tailor the space needed by passengers.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaAll the seats also recline, which means that further room can be freed and adjusted based on the requirements of those occupying any of its seven seats.
For its interior amenities, the Honda BR-V packs some decent appointments like leather seats with a fold-down armrest for the second row, a leather steering wheel, a leather shift knob, and shift boot.
Tech-wise, it comes with a 4.2-inch full-color thin-film transistor instrument cluster paired with a seven-inch infotainment screen with touchscreen controls, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaAudio is sent to a six-speaker sound system with two tweeters. Other notable features include automatic air conditioning and illuminated controls for ease of operation at night.
Having a spacious ride helps whether one is going for daily commutes or embarking on weekend getaways. The writer likes to fold down the third row seats to make room for things like a storage box, some camping chairs, and a small foldable table. This setup is good for a family of three who often go on road trips to scenic destinations and relaxing locations south of Metro Manila.
Capable powertrain, dynamic driving
The Honda BR-V has one of the most capable powertrains in the segment.
Propulsion comes from a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. This setup makes approximately 119 horsepower (hp) and 145 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

The way Honda tunes the BR-V’s suspension and steering also plays a huge role in why we believe many people are drawn to the nameplate. For one, it drives admirably with good steering feel and suspension control.
Its rack and pinion steering wheel with electronic power steering technology feels weighted or light when it needs to, thus providing the feeling of control in both straightaways and bends. Meanwhile, its MacPherson strut (front) and torsion beam (rear) arrangement balances reliability and comfort pretty well.
Stopping power for deceleration comes from a combination of drum and disc brakes that deliver smooth halts.

Packed with safety features
The Honda BR-V also appeases those who value safety above all else — making it a suitable family car.
Standard safety technologies include airbags, seatbelts, anti-lock braking, electronic brake-force distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, speed-sensing door locks, Honda Lane Watch, and ISOFIX tethers.
It also received the Honda Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assist system, which adds the following:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Collision mitigation braking system
- Lane keeping assist system
- Road departure mitigation
- Lane departure warning
- Auto high beam
- Lead car departure notification
