BMW 4 Series Coupe

While the exterior of the BMW 4-Series Coupe now looks strikingly different from the 3-Series, the cabin layout continues to be the same as the pre-facelift 3-Series, with the cabin here featuring high-quality black leather upholstery with contrast blue stitching.

A replica of the interior layout of the 3-Series, the cabin of the BMW 4-Series Coupe has a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with a contrast silver finish over all the spokes and a full-TFT 12.3-inch BMW virtual cockpit for the instrument console behind it. The angular-looking centre console has a trapezoidal 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top and a hexagonal panel for the AC vents in the middle part of the centre console. These AC vents have brushed silver surrounds, which extend towards the edgy-looking AC vents placed on the dashboard corners.

The lower centre console has a silver finish for the sides, while also having cup holders at the front and transmission lever with engine push start-stop button and iDrive controller behind them. The cabin of the BMW 4-Series Coupe gets a decent number of features, including powered front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a premium Harman-Kardon audio system and a BMW virtual assistant. The M Sport variant further stretches the bars of premium appeal with its M sports seats, M leather steering wheel and M headliner in anthracite.

The BMW 4-Series Coupe is said to be based on the 3-Series sedan, with the appearance of the first-generation version also confirming the same. However, BMW made significant tweaks with the second-generation model, which continued to be a sleek-looking coupe, but now has a different appearance compared to the 3-Series.

At the front, the BMW 4-Series Coupe has sleek and curvaceous headlamp housings, with them having dual L-shaped daytime running LEDs with LED projectors within them. The front double kidney grille now has a bolder, vertically-stretched design, with satin chrome surrounds and chrome-studded inserts within them. The front bumper of the BMW 4-Series Coupe looks different for both the variants – while the Standard variant has vertical air vents on the sides and a wide air dam in the middle, the M Sport variant gets a sportier treatment with more aggressive and larger-sized air vents and surrounds for the fog lamps on the corners.

The BMW 4-Series Coupe has a sleek design towards the side, where this car carries its two-door look with frameless doors and a sloping roofline very effortlessly. The BMW 4-Series Coupe has sleek haunches over the rounded wheel arches, and while the Standard variant has 19-inch machined alloy wheels, the M Sport variant features 19-inch double-spoke black alloy wheels.

The rear profile of the BMW 4-Series Coupe also looks different from that of the 3-Series with a more curvaceous and sleeker-looking combination of LED tail lamps with a rounded design for the boot. The rear bumper has slim and tiny air vents on the far corners, while also having dual exhaust ports at the bottom of the gloss black diffuser.

With variable sport steering, the company says the BMW 4-Series Coupe's Macpherson struts at the front and a 5-link rigid axle at the rear offer tremendously precise handling and traction across all speeds. The BMW 4-Series Coupe also offers M Sport adaptive suspension in the M Sport variant, which further enhances feedback levels and traction, especially during high-speed cornering.

The standard 420i version of the BMW 4-Series Coupe on sale in the Philippines gets the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which powers the 325i version of the 3-Series sedan. This engine, which is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, churns out a maximum power output of 185 PS and a peak torque output of 300 Nm. With this engine, the BMW 4-Series Coupe claims a top speed of 240 kmph, a 0-100 kmph run time of 7.5 seconds and a fuel economy of 15.63 kmpl.

The BMW 4-Series Coupe is loaded with safety features for its price, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake, lane departure warning, lane change assist, front collision warning with brake intervention, crossing traffic warning rear and rear collision prevention.

The BMW 4-Series Coupe strikes a fine balance between a traditional everyday sedan and a two-door sports car, offering exclusivity in the latter's appearance and the practicality of the former's four seats. It has all the good bits of the 3-Series, with a more striking road presence than a two-door coupe.
