Das Auto Slogan Soon to Vanish from Volkswagen Books

MANILA: Das Auto will be remembered as the most infamous Volkswagen slogan ever. Originated in the year 2007 this ill-famed tag proved nothing less than a curse for this German auto maker, especially in the year 2015. And now as a cure to end its long gloomy days, Volkswagen has decided to get rid of it, well that's what we think.

The brand made the most shocking announcement of all times, you can say it is the next big thing after the mischievous diesel scandal. As from now, no more Das Auto Slogan for Volkswagen, and now all its advertisements, press release, and other important stuff will carry the word 'Volkswagen' underneath the logo. The decision came all of sudden after the diesel gate scandal and was taken in the presence of as many as 2000 group managers.

The new Volkswagen slogan is the shortest till date and boring too, as the company has come up with many interesting ones earlier. Some of our favorite VW ad tags and mottos are: If gas pains persist, try Volkswagen, It's ugly, but it gets you there, you’re missing a lot when you own a Volkswagen, it makes you look bigger, and Volkswagen’s unique construction keeps dampness out.

A lot has changed in the VW house since the diesel gate scandal, starting from the new Chief Executive Matthias Mueller, endless resignations, new design chief Michael Mauer, and reshuffling of top management position. Slogan change only adding to VW's desperate need to re-make its rusted image.

But according to Herbert Diess, Volkswagen Brand Chief, this shift was necessary as the “Das Auto” slogan failed to represent VW's image as a modern car maker and didn't showcase its tech ambitions in the field like electrically-powered cars.

Apart from the new Volkswagen slogan, the brand is also trying to follow some new practices as seen in the recent annual pre-Christmas conference. A tie free, buttoned-up and folded shirt type free environment was seen and encouraged by top management people to relax the workers and help them focus more on work than on appearance.
