Geely on track of bringing Monjaro to PH

MANILA: Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) is ready to introduce the Monjaro to the local market this year—likely towards the end of the year.

Based on the information that Zigwheels Philippines received, the five-seat sport utility vehicle is expected to be formally revealed locally within the final quarter of 2026 (probably around October).

Recently, the model was seen in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) list of recognized electrified vehicles for the local market, which shared relevant information about it.

While waiting, here’s what the upcoming model will offer to the market.

Vehicle specifications

Based on what was submitted in the DOE list, the Geely Monjaro measures:

Powering the vehicle is a plug-in hybrid mill made up of a 1.5-liter, turbocharged gasoline-fed engine mated to an electric motor (EM-i) mounted within the front axle.

This can deliver:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	410.35
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	723

Power is sent to all four wheels in a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and the Geely Monjaro offers four drive modes:

• Pure (full electric)
• Power (full internal combustion engine)
• Hybrid
• Snow 

Further, the motor gets its juice from a 29.8-kilowatt-hour battery that gives it a fumes-free range of 130 kilometers (kms, based on New European Driving Cycle [NEDC> standards). But with a full tank of fuel, the vehicle can do 1,095 kms.

Among its numerous amenities include:

• Leather upholstery 
• Ambient lighting 
• Dual-zone climate control 
• 12.3-inch instrument cluster 
• 15.4-inch central screen 
• 25.6-inch windshield heads-up display 
• Wireless smartphone connection 

Among its driver-assistive systems are:

• Adaptive cruise control 
• Lane keeping assist
• Traffic sign recognition system
• Rear collision warning 
• 540–degree view monitor 

Price has yet to be shared but if it will compete against the BYD Tang DM-i, then its pricing will be at least below P2 million-mark.
