Geely releases a teaser image of Jia Ji MPV

MANILA: Geely Auto has decided to introduce its contender for claiming a slice of the blooming MPV market worldwide. This Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing brand has released the official teaser images of the Jia Ji MPV. The launch of this model might take place somewhere in the first half of 2019.

The Geely Jia Ji MPV is expected to arrive in three variants. The 48V BSG MHEV variant will derive its power from a 1.5-litre turbocharged powertrain paired with a 7-speed dual clutch unit. It will generate a maximum of 191 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is powered by the same engine and is mated to a 7-speed DCT. It features an 11.3 kWh lithium-ion battery with ultra-high capacity. The combined power produced reads 259 PS and 385 Nm. The 1.8-litre turbocharged motor comes equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, yielding 184 PS of maximum power and churns out 300 Nm of peak torque. The fuel consumption reading of the mild hybrid and the plug-in hybrid variants are 16.9 kmpl and 62.5 kmpl, respectively.

In terms of the design, the unique elements are its expanded cosmos front grille, meteor headlamps, sloping roofline, distinguished and sleek beltline running across the car’s length, and a smooth-running coupe-style body frame.

Inside the cabin, the seven-seater Jia Ji MPV houses an extended dashboard design with black piano key buttons, an expansive 12.3-inch media display, 'double deck' central panel with cup-holder (can heat or cool beverages), and a semi-digital instrument panel. Blue ambient lighting adjustable by hand-gesture, comfortable leather upholstery, and a massive panoramic glass roof offers a brilliant look and feel inside.

The Jia Ji MPV by the Geely Auto was developed and designed at the Chinese auto marque’s Shanghai design studio, which is one of the five global design studios, employing 600 individuals.
