Has Lego spilled the beans about the 2020 Defender?

MANILA: Ever since the 2020 Land Rover Defender has been confirmed to make its way out in the flesh in September 2019, the 4x4 SUV has been all over the headlines in the automobile space. Also, the fact the Land Rover has tested the upcoming Defender for over 1.2 million kilometres, it is the testament of the rigidity and reliability that the American SUV will be offering. While we have already seen quite a few photographs of the 2020 Land Rover Defender, we still haven’t quite figured out the design philosophy of the soon to be unveiled SUV.

In our quest to find out how the 2020 Land Rover Defender might actually look, Lego has provided us with some interesting information. Recently, an online Lego Store accidentally published a listing of a Lego brick set of the Defender. By the looks of the box, the defender certainly looks different than the previous generation models courtesy of the new front end. Moreover, a “Defender” emblem at the end of the hood further clears that the Lego set indeed carries the 4x4 SUV.

Speaking more of the image that has leaked, the Defender on the Lego box features doors and bumper designs which are reminiscent of the upcoming Land Rover Defender. While the SUV here is a 90 Series, we expect the American automaker to also produce the 110 Series for the Defender devotees. More information reveals that the Lego set that boasts a total of 2,573 pieces will be on for sale starting from October 2019. Measuring 42 cm long, 20 cm wide, and 22 cm tall, the Lego 2020 Land Rover Defender will feature three differentials, independent suspension, and a four-speed sequential gearbox.

So, with the global debut of the 2020 Land Rover Defender set to transpire in the month of September, later this year and the Philippine arrival set to take place in quarter one (Q1) of 2020, we believe you are just as excited as we are for the American 4x4 to make a comeback after all these years, right?
