Zigwheels PH most viewed for 2025: Toyota Wigo

Considered by many as a good “first car” option, or an ideal pick for those living in cities with tight roads, the Toyota Wigo has been one of the top picks for people who fall into the mentioned categories or simply those picking pennies.

That said, we were not surprised to see the compact hatchback pop on our list of top 20 vehicles searched on our website.

Still, here are our two cents as to why we think it was one of the most searched and viewed cars on our site for the year.

Now with more character

Surely the Toyota Wigo had a glow-up. Not only did it drop its cute look (with rounded lights and curved edges), but it also grew slightly in size to complement its new sporty and angular look.

We, too, love its trapezoid-shaped fascia with horizontal grilles. The headlamps also look sharper and are complemented by the strip of daytime running lights on its slightly indented cheeks.

It rides on set of 14-inch monotone wheels wrapped in 175/65 series tires.

At the back, the Toyota Wigo packs a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated brake lamp, a hydraulically assisted tailgate, and angular taillamps.

Decent cabin amenities

Being one of Toyota’s entry-level models, one could expect the Wigo to sport just the basic cabin features.

Surprisingly, it offers would-be owners a slew of decent interior appointments that help improve one’s driving experience.

Facing the driver is a plastic steering wheel, but with multi-functional controls. Past it is an instrument cluster that combines analog gauges and digital meters. It is complemented by a floating infotainment system that measures eight inches and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Rounding things off is a set of fabric seats, a shifter with a leather boot, a manual brake lever, and bench-type seats at the back.

Powerful enough for daily drives

Under the hood of the Toyota Wigo is a 998-cubic-centimeter, naturally aspirated gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission.

The said setup makes up to at least 66 horses and 89 Newton-meters of pulling power.

While these aren’t exactly class-leading figures, the said numbers are more than enough to get from point A to point B in the city — probably for picking up the kids at school, and maybe some weekend grocery trips.

Stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the back. Suspension-wise, it gets MacPherson struts at the fore and a torsion beam setup at the back.

Final thoughts

The Toyota Wigo landing a spot in our top 20 most-viewed car list for 2025 is no surprise. It uses a tried and tested recipe of putting quality materials together, cutting down on upmarket tech, and selling a car for an attainable price.
