Land Rover Defender Octa Black debuts at 2025 Goodwood FOS

MANILA: The Land Rover Defender Octa Black has made its first-ever public appearance at the recently concluded 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS) held in West Sussex, England. 

In a nutshell, the Defender Octa Black is a special version of the most powerful Defender trim ever made. Per its name, all of its surfaces from the inside and out were entirely covered in black paint and materials, making for an intimidating-looking sport utility vehicle (SUV). 

Specifically, its exterior was clad in “Narvik Black,” which, according to Land Rover, can be finished in satin or gloss as per a buyer’s preference. Its interior, on the other hand, received Ebony Semi-Aniline leather and Kvadrat finishes. 

At the 2025 Goodwood FOS, the aforementioned version of the Defender Octa Black also made a quick run at the event’s iconic hill climb track. You can watch the SUV do its thing at the Goodwood hill climb track here.

Land Rover Defender Octa: specifications

Apart from its special exterior color, the Defender Octa Black shares the same mechanical bits with the “regular” Defender Octa. 

In the Philippine market, the Land Rover Defender Octa is based on the Defender 110. Under its hood, meanwhile, is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 gasoline engine. Paired with an eight–speed automatic transmission, the said powertrain can generate up to 626 horsepower (hp) and 750 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

The most powerful version of the Defender was also kitted out with a 6D Dynamics air-suspension system for optimal off and on-road stability. Stopping power for the big SUV, on the other hand, is provided by front and rear carbon ceramic discs.

To note, the Land Rover Defender Octa Black in European markets carries a £10,000 premium over the regular trims. That’s around P762,000 at current exchange rates. For reference, the Defender Octa Black in any other color in Europe starts at £148,045, or around P11.291 million at current exchange rates. 

In the Philippine market, the V8-powered version of the Defender starts at P24.59 million, with the Edition One trim commanding a cool P26.59 million.
