Land Rover PH launches all-new Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two

MANILA: Inchcape Philippines, the official distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the local market, has introduced the pinnacle of the Range Rover Sport. 

Dubbed the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two, it is touted to provide the utmost in terms of performance and luxury, as well as the latest version of the sporty vehicle design the SV line is known for. 

With only 2,500 units produced for the entire globe, however, the very potent iteration of the Range Rover is a very exclusive ride, with only one example available locally. Plus, it commands a price of P32.49 million - around P16 million more compared to the “standard” Range Rover Sport Autobiography P460e.

Exterior

The Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two allocated for the local market is a striking sport utility vehicle (SUV) equipped with enhanced aesthetics that hint towards its improved on-road performance. 

While it retains the familiar shape of the Range Rover Sport, the SV Edition Two wears carbon fiber pieces that helped it shave off as much as 32 kilograms. Specifically, it comes with a hood, a set of 23-inch wheels, and many other trim pieces that were hewn from carbon fiber courtesy of the brand’s “Twill Carbon Fiber Pack.”

Added aerodynamics and powertrain cooling are provided by a revised lower front bumper with wider air intakes, a prominent front lip, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and a chunky (but functional) rear diffuser. 

More visual impact for the nameplate was likewise achieved through its Sunrise Copper Satin matte paint job, combined with Ligurian Black Gloss body parts all around. 

On the more practical side, the high-performance variant of the Range Rover Sport was kitted out with automatic LED headlamps, LED taillights with animated indicators, LED daytime running lamps, a power-tailgate, soft-close doors, flush door handles, power-folding side mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers - among others.

Interior

The key element of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two is its four front and rear “Body and Soul” SV Performance seats, which the brand says ensure utmost comfort and support for spirited drives. 

To be more specific, the said seats get power-adjustability, heating, ventilation, as well as a massage function. Plus, the Body and Soul part of its name comes from its ability to let occupants “feel” the tunes being played on the vehicle’s infotainment system via built-in pulsating transducers. The aforementioned works in tandem with the model’s 29-piece Meridian Signature speaker set.

Additionally, the model utilizes plenty of polished interior surfaces, as well as lightweight 3D-knit textile, and leather-clad soft-touch surfaces.

Powertrain

The crown jewel of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two is its engine. Specifically, it's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. 

At maximum, the said engine can generate up to 626 horsepower and 750 Newton-meters of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, plus it has a mild-hybrid system for added instantaneous torque when it needs it. 

Speaking of which, the model’s “SV Mode,” which is activated through the infotainment system or a handy button on the steering wheel, can awaken the vehicle to its full potential. 

Per Land Rover, activating the said mode will prompt its air suspension to set its ride height low. It will also change the gearshift feel and liven up the ride by fully opening the electronic valves of its quad-tip exhaust system. 

As a result, the British car maker’s local arm says that the newly launched SUV nameplate can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.9 seconds. 

To handle all that performance, the model was kitted with Land Rover’s 6D Dynamics suspension system. It works via the SUV’s hydraulic anti-roll bars to actively eliminate body roll as well as vehicle pitch during hard acceleration or braking. 

For stopping the ride, meanwhile, the newly launched version of the Range Rover Sport was fitted with large carbon ceramic brakes and Brembo eight-piston brake calipers.
