Here’s another crossover by Kia and it’s called XCeed
MANILA: Kia seems to have fallen in love with crossovers. With already big enough portfolio of SUVs and crossovers, the South Korean automaker is set to bring out two more very soon. One of the two, the Seltos was recently caught posing for a shoot and now, the automaker has itself previewed the second one just over a fortnight a before the official debut.
Called Kia XCeed, the crossover features a rather unusual design philosophy with its coupe-like sloping roofline. Inspired by the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, maybe? Set to make its public debut on 26 June 2019, the XCeed has been designed in Frankfurt, Germany. How far is Stuttgart from Frankfurt?
On the outside, the Kia XCeed comes with sleek headlamps and taillights and twin-five-spoke alloys which provide the crossover with a sporty stance. The coupe-like roofline then makes the XCeed boast a hatchback- or wagon-ish look.
With not pictures and information available of the interior on the Kia XCeed, all we can do is trust on what the automaker has said - the crossover will come equipped with interior features and boot space as good as other popular SUVs in the automobile space.
“The sporty design and demeanour of the new Kia XCeed CUV makes it more innately desirable than many taller, larger SUVs. Yet it offers this without compromising on versatility, with its intelligent packaging achieving the cabin and storage space of an SUV in a sportier body and more compact footprint”, said Herrera, the Chief Operating Officer at Kia Motors Europe.
Just like the interior, we don’t have any information about the powertrain on the all-new Xceed, however, reports suggest that the coupe-like crossover may come housing same engines as the ProCeed.
If that happens, the all-new Kia crossover should get its power from one or more of the following mills - a 1.0-litre turbo (120 PS and 172 Nm), a 1.4-litre turbo (140 PS and 242 Nm), a 1.6-litre turbo (204 PS and 265 Nm), and finally, a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel (136 PS with either 280 or 320 Nm). Let’s wait for 26 June 2019 to arrive when Kia will pull the wraps off the XCeed. Until then, stay tuned with Zigwheels for all the latest news and updates regarding the automobile space.
