Honda PH welcomes new president
MANILA: There’s a new person in charge at Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) as it welcomes president Masahiko Nakamura.
He replaces Noriyuki Takakura who, during his tenure, oversaw the launch of several Honda models including the all-new Accord and the refreshed Civic.
As a former deputy general manager in various divisions at Honda’s main headquarters in Japan, Nakamura brings more than 30 years of experience in automobile operations.
This change comes at a very challenging time, with the world gripped by a lockdown due to Covid-19 resulting in manufacturing plants and dealerships around the world temporarily closing down, supply chains stopping, and locally, the total shutdown of the assembly plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
HCPI finished seventh last year in terms of overall sales with 20,338 units sold. That’s a 14.5% decrease in sales compared to 2018.
Their best-selling models are the City, BR-V, and Brio.
Nakamura aims to use his expertise to help steer HCPI through the Philippine automotive landscape.
