Hyundai Motor PH ‘hopeful’ for Stargazer X, Custin turnarounds in local MPV category

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) General Manager for Marketing Mark Parulan revealed that the company is hopeful for the turnarounds of the Stargazer X and Custin.

To recall, the local arm of the South Korean car brand launched the Hyundai Stargazer X and the Custin — alongside the nine-seater Staria — yesterday.

“Well the Stargazer X plays in one of the biggest segments in the industry, which is the MPV. We are expecting it to be a strong contender — although we cannot give a number right now — but we are hopeful with the product, given its features and its offerings,” Parulan told Zigwheels Philippines.

The Hyundai Stargazer X now sits as the range-topping variant of the nameplate and is priced at P1.348 million.

Meanwhile, Parulan mentioned that the China-built Custin is expected to become an aggressive player in the MPV category.

“It’s a new player and we will be expecting it to be aggressive in the coming months. So we are very hopeful, like the Stargazer X — though we can’t give a specific figure — but given the price point and the competition that is currently available in the market, we are very optimistic about the turnarounds that the Custin will produce,” Parulan said.

The Hyundai Custin is offered in two variants: GLS and Premium. It is priced at P1.770 million and P2.08 million, respectively.
