Hyundai reveals its future plans
MANILA: With the automobile space expanding rapidly, automobile manufacturers are striving to not only introduce newer & better models but also enhance the customer experience and do less harm to the environment. At its 2020 New Year ceremony, Hyundai Motor Group revealed all that it has on the mind for the next five years. The period till 2025 will see the automaker investing 15 billion Korean Wons (roughly Php 621.68 million) in various platforms and avenues.
The South Korean automaker looks forward to building a solid autonomous driving technology by 2023 and expanding its electrified vehicle lineup even further. Also, Hyundai Motor Group Desires to come up with human-centred smart mobility solutions and take part in unexplored business genres. "Hyundai Motor Group enters 2020 as the inaugural year for securing its future industrial leadership", said Euisun Chung, Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of Hyundai Motor Group.
Speaking more of investment, Hyundai Motor Group will put in more than 100 trillion Korean Wons (around Php 4.38 billion) in enhancing business competitiveness by the help of cost innovations with new ideas and technologies. Besides, the group also aims at nurturing a creative mindset like a startup entrepreneur and applying it in businesses.
"If we all work together in unison and continue to innovate our technological, business and organizational capabilities, I am confident we will become the Hyundai Motor Group capable of overcoming its challenging environment and is even more trusted by our customers. I want to re-emphasize that the ultimate beneficiaries of all our efforts at transforming and innovating Hyundai Motor Group should be our customers. Their satisfaction and happiness in using our products and services remain the core value and true asset of our Group", said Chung.
Coming on to the electrified vehicle lineup, Hyundai Motor Group will expand its electrified vehicle lineup to 44 by 2025, and the fleet will incorporate 11 battery electric vehicles (BEV) pure electric vehicles (EV). Currently, Hyundai's electrified lineup includes 24, and by 2025, it will feature 13 hybrids, six plug-in hybrids, 23 BEVs, and two fuel-cell electric vehicles, taking the tally to 44. Moving on, Hyundai also plans to develop an autonomous driving platform by 2022 and starting to roll out autonomous driving equipped vehicles by 2023 in selected regions. Expect to see Hyundai cars coming with SAE Level 4 and Level 5 technology soon.
"In the autonomous driving industry which is the core of future vehicles development, we will attain the world's top safety and technological innovation competitiveness through our U.S.-based venture to be jointly established with Aptiv, targeting the commercialization of the technology in 2023," Chung added.
